The UMASS game is Sunday Nov 20th at 1:05pm. Not good. Pats game is at 4:25 versus the Niners that Sunday. Plenty of time to get home for the game, even for a Bostonian.

Just think a late aft on a Saturday would generate better attendance. Maybe that time wasn't possible - who knows.

UMass football will be at BYU on Sat Nov 19th getting their asses kicked - though that can't be the reason for playing on a Sunday at 1PM when everyone will still be at post-mass brunch. Just don't like the day & time of the game at all.

Just don't like the day & time of the game at all. Any game during football season tends to be a bad timing. Football is an all day event and there is a need to catch-up on other things, whether the Pats or your Crusaders Yes the football schedule is not kind to us with 3 SEC opponents and BYU. The good news is the last home game is Oct 29th so it's a good day for us. We'll be missing a few hundred that will follow the team to Utah and Hawaii the following week. Guess we are playing a national schedule as independents.

You either want to go to the game and support your team or you don't. Any subset of people could come up with a reason why any day and time wouldn't work. With a six-month lead I think we can all agree to put it in our calendars bring a friend and get there.

I wonder what other days both hoop teams play? A day or two off before and after the game is needed that early in the season..

I don't like college hoop starting more or less on Veterans' Day. Never have.

Pretty sure it's not the people here we're worried about. The core group of fans goes to most of the games. The ones you're trying to draw with a game at the DCU against a "name" opponent are the casual fans. Sunday at 1:00 in November is not going to help us draw those people.

selfishly, I was pumped when I saw this date because I'll be back in Worcester for the week and get to see the Umass and tournament games. Hopefully the social media investments NP has made can get a lot of non-hardcore fans there.

Pretty sure one problem ACTP and I don't have is not paying enough attention to HC sports. No one is saying NP doesn't know it's a bad time for a game. We're just saying it's disappointing and that we're not going to draw a lot of new or casual fans. I suspect NP knows this but we don't exactly have a lot of leverage in these discussions.

Sunday at 1pm? During football season? Ugh. Not good. It'll be impossible to convince any casual fans to attend.

Can't believe there are actually complaints about renewing/playing a major in-state rival early on a Fall Sunday afternoon. And 1 o'clock is great....game will be over by 3....plenty of time for the locals to get home and travelers to get home at a decent hour. Geezes, if Pine reads these kinda threads he must often feel like slamming his head against a wall. Who gives a crap about about da freakin' pro football dopes. You're a fan of HC hoops first, right ? You want more attractive games, right ?
GO PINE - GO CROSS GO !

Sometimes you can't have your cake and eat it too. HC is not in a position to dictate the game day and time to UMass. At least HC got the game on the schedule - that's an important start.

Happy we're playing UMass but it would have been nice to play them in our home opener at the new Hart Center. Hopefully we get another desirable opponent for that game. Unfortunately most of these big programs refuse to play us at home because of the inadequate facilities etc. Especially with all the construction going on. I'd be curious to see once the new Hart is complete if we can get better teams to play us in our own barn.

You will never get a big program team into the Hart Center due to the small seating. Teams do not want to play in a high school type arena. It is possible for big program teams to come to the DCU Center with a 2 for 1 set up just like the Umass series. The improvements will probably help in recruiting with better locker rooms, and team meeting rooms but will not help in scheduling better games in the Hart Center.

I think it's more about not wanting to play a true road game in a hostile environment. Much easier to play on a neutral court. Small seating only comes into play when you think about fans filling a smaller percentage of the seats. Kind of like the last time BC came to town and the game drew about 3000. It's harder to win in front of 3000 hostile fans in a 4000 seat gym than having that same number in a 12 000 seat gym
