IIRC, Samko was dismissed after the 3rd game (due to a dispute with the boss?) and we did not have a specific off. line coach for the remainder of the season. We needed one !

I hope his return will mark a major improvement in offensive line play.

Actually, we did have an OL coach for the remainder of the season. Steve Cully, who had been the TE coach, switched to the OL, and Jack Siedlecki, the former Yale coach, filled in to coach the TEs for the rest of the season. I anticipate that Cully will now go back to coaching the TEs.

Interesting that this torch is being passed from one alum to another.

I played with Chris, He's a product of Pedone / Bandy and is also from a football family. He started 45 consecutive games at Center and has coached offensive line in the Big Sky conference and then for New Haven under Pince -- great hire.

Did he not use the medical redshirt ? Or did he start school in 2004 and play no games ?

Did he not use the medical redshirt ? Or did he start school in 2004 and play no games ? Per the bio above--in 2005 he was a freshman but was injured and received the medical redshirt. What is confusing is that you only see the recap of his next three seasons as the roster bio is for his senior year and thus was written before play began

Where did Fanning go? His Twitter still shows an affiliation with HC. No indication of a potential change of scenery if you check following / followers.

Now that Chris Smith has filled the OL coaching slot and the position of Recruiting Coordinator, three assistant coach positions remain open -- RB (Guynes), WR (Fanning), and OLB (Nesselt).
