Sad to see. The school appears to be investigating in a thorough manner and not rushing to judgement.

I generally can see no valid reason for re-posting stories like this on our board. Unfortunate situations for all involved

Agree with lou. Delete post especially since no one has been convicted.

+1. Delete. The title of this thread is presumptuous.

There was a felony warrant issued for his arrest, and he is on his way back to Omaha to turn himself in.
On what planet does that mean he's not in "big trouble?"
Nobody has said that he's guilty, but he's sure as hell in big trouble.

It appears that those who said not to rush to judgement were right and that he was not, in fact, in "big trouble." He did, however, get put through a very hard time for something of which, this decision tells us, he was not guilty. I hope Creighton now officials ends the ban from campus that they publicly imposed on him before anything had been proven.

It is a shame for Watson and Creighton that he lost the end of the season. Creighton could have gone far in the tourney.

Not quite vindicated. This isn't Duke Lacrosse where evidence showed at least one of the kids wasn't even there. Also, he did plead no contest to 3rd degree assault. The quote from the article makes it seem like they didn't think they could get a conviction, not that he didn't do anything wrong

Stipulating that we don't know what happened that night, I'm rather appalled at the casual attitude toward sexual assault being displayed in this thread. Watson still pleaded guilty to a crime here. "It's a shame for Watson and Creighton that he lost the end of the season?" I'm sure the whole incident is even more of a shame for the victim. I don't care if you knew his HS teacher, hoops... you're better than this.

If the article is correct, the charge to which he pleaded guilty (third degree assault, a misdemeanor) involved a different victim. The third degree assault would not necessarily have been of a sexual nature. Under Nebraska law, that charge requires "intentionally, knowingly or recklessly causing bodily injury to another person" or "threatening another in a menacing manner." The sexual assault charge was dropped due to credibility issues with the victim that made the prosecutors conclude they could not prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt. No idea what actually happened but definitely a sad story for all concerned.

Should be pulled. Too much speculation. No, it shouldn't be pulled. There are multiple stories about this in national media, ESPN et al. There's very minimal, generalized speculation going on here. It's an entirely reasonable discussion. Nobody is sharing anything resembling insider information. Stop being the thread police.

If the article is correct, the charge to which he pleaded guilty (third degree assault, a misdemeanor) involved a different victim. Thanks, I missed that detail, and it's an important one. Still, the fact that there are now multiple episodes/incidents here, even if one led to a dismissal and the other to a misdemeanor plea, doesn't exactly reflect well on Watson. Basically, I still don't think it's in any way a shame that their NCAA chances were impacted.

If he had been, then my post about it being a shame, etc., would have been appropriate
