Congratulations to Paul Pearl '89 for having a key role in taking Harvard to its first Frozen Four since it won it all in, ironically, '89. The Harvard associate head coach is responsible for the PP & PK, and Harvard is among the best in the country in both. He was the coach for HC's greatest hockey moment, and he may be part of a great one for the Crimson. A great Crusader, and still a great supporter of HC hockey.

Harvard lost 2-1 to U Minn Duluth in the semi's. Winning goal came with 26 seconds to play in the third. Our Lady of the Lake lost 6-1 to Denver. Denver is champion, winning 3-2.

I don't follow hockey, but was flipping channels and caught the Harvard-Duluth game in progress. Was 1-1 for a long time and appeared to me to be a pretty boring game, mostly defensive struggle. Duluth scores with half a minute left, game over right? Harvard calls timeout, pulls the goalie and goes crazy for 30 seconds, with two shots off the cross bars and probably a total of at least three shots in the 30 seconds. I thought maybe they should have tried that strategy sooner.

I just mean from my point of view, there was very little action and offense by Harvard until the last 30 seconds. Then they had 3 point blank shots which very, very nearly tied the game. Whatever they did to try to tie, they should have tried sooner...Again, I certainly am no expert in the sport, but I do like out of the box thinking

And each of the 56 schools that didn't make the Frozen Four would gladly play Harvard's style if it got them there..

Much the same thing was said about the NJ Devils (called "the team than killed the NHL" by some) when they took their first and second Stanley Cups.
