Careful folks. No problems yet, but with the 2019 class recruiting cycle beginning in earnest, just thought I'd drop the proverbial turd in the punch bowl and provide a gentle reminder regarding posts about recruits, Holy Cross and complicated NCAA regulations that makes the ice thin real fast.
Carry on

New Trier High School is one of the largest and most upscale public high schools in the USA. One gets the sense that it was the model for some of the John Hughes ( not John Landis as I erroneously first posted) HS movies. The place has graduated dozens if not hundreds of well known/celebrated graduates, e.g. Charlton Heston, Rahm Emanuel, Donald Rumsfeld, Rock Hudson, Bruce Dern, Ann-Margret, et al New Trier has produced a huge number of student-athletes at PL and Ivy schools. At the moment, Bucknell has 12 from New Trier on varsity rosters.

I think New Trier is the alma mater of former 90's HC player Tim Payne. your memory never ceases to amaze, nad! right you are about payne. an interesting write-up on a high school tournament shootout between payne and chris collins: articles.chicagotribune.com/1992-03-12/sports/9201230555_1_dream-new-trier-three-point-arcp.s. - little known fact to anyone not at hc at the time (and even to most of those who were at hc at the time!) is that i would venture to guess that payne is the only d-1 player in history to host a frank sinatra radio show on his college radio station

Would be nice to take another recruit from the Missouri Valley! I think New Trier is the alma mater of former 90's HC player Tim Payne. Oh My Goodness! How do you have this information on the top of your head? When you mention the name I remember Payne as a role player during the Raynor years, but it's not exactly a name that pops into my head, never mind his high school. Other than Andrew Beinert, I can't think of any former player that I could come up with a high school for. And I only know that one because it's the same high school as the most underrated star to ever grace the silver screen

The school also produced another fine actor who won a Golden Globe and two Tony awards, an actor I met during a business meeting in LA many years ago.

Of course I can't remember if I took my BP meds this morning.... Well, with no refs to yell at this time of year Dave, your BP will be naturally lower so missing a day is not as significant.

Was Payne a scholarship player or a walk-on ? payne was a senior when i was a freshman on jv at hc, and i only got to know him a little bit from the semi-structured pick-up games we used to hold in the hart center. while no players were technically "scholarship" in that era, i'm pretty sure (though not certain) that payne received financial aid and was on varsity from day one, unlike ian dombrowski, chris spitler, courtney christ, geo sanchez and a few other walkons of that era who started out on jv and ultimately made the varsity team. challenge to nad... if you can tell me where any of thomas nelson, courtney christ, brian fitzsimmons, jason ware, or dylan kalbacher went to high school without consulting the mid/late 90's programs, consider me officially blown away. and maybe even a little scared

My high school alma mater and now that that "other" St. Anthony's, in New Jersey, is closing, people won't get them mixed up anymore. I can't say they were an athletic powerhouse when I attended the then all-male smallish school but after moving to Huntington, going co-ed, they have been an juggernaut on the field, especially football, I believe, but were always solid in soccer.

But, you got me with those guys. I think Nelson was from LA; no idea on the school. If's funny - I'm usually pretty good at remembering hometowns, and schools; but just with certain kids. Some kids that always stuck in my head: the Michigan guys - Scooter Tropf from Holt MI; Billy Walker from Portage, and Rick Mashburn from Grand Blanc......Roger Breslin from Bergen Catholic in Oradell NJ; Scott Martzloff from (I think) McQuaid Jesuit in Rochester (Buffalo) NY; Glenn Williams from TC Williams in Alexandria VA; Dwight Pernell from Deep Creak in Chesapeake VA. Maybe you do need that net.

Love to see PGs who are track athletes. AT was a track star in hs. May have been fastest guy at HC in the sprints. Hope we can snag this kid Lowery, but 2019 is sooo far off. Glad to see AB was a track and field guy too. Promising recruit.
