Ya still need to borrow my DVD? And you can debate my eyes, but have been told my baby blues compare to Butch's on more than one occasion. But, remember, I said up front I would be happy to be compared to Redford/Subdance Kid. At least I don't kick unsuspecting colleagues in the crotch! (Watch the movie!!!)

Was not my intention to "kick unsuspecting colleagues in the ...."! Apologies to my dear friend if I did! ! My comment was only to say that I did see Paul Newman in person face to face and I could not believe the color of his eyes! Anyway, will your DVD play in my VHS recorder??? !

Returning briefly to regularly scheduled programming, for a bit of housekeeping . . . Tommy O'Neil has committed to Harvard.

Ya, know, I might actually have it on a VHS tape . . . . . but really sure I don't have it on Beta since I threw away my Sony Betamax a little while ago.

I guess he is willing to bet on that...with a Harvard degree as a consolation prize. He would not be the first one to be disappointed with Harvard hoops.

Evidently Harvard convinced him they won't recruit over him. as long as you consider this earlier commit not recruiting over,: "Ciaran Brayboy has become the first commit to Harvard for the Fall of 2019. "Brayboy is listed at 6' 9" tall and 195 pounds over at Verbal Commits and 6' 10" at Rivals. He is from New Trier High School in Winnetka, Illinois. "ESPN lists Brayboy as a 4 star recruit, while 247Sports lists him as a 3 star and Rivals has his down as a 2 star." ^^^From a Harvard hoops board. Will need to put on weight. _________________________________________________ Harvard has finished renovating Lavietes. Cost $15 million, which includes new video board. Seating reduced slightly, so it may be just under 2,000. The Johnnies have scrapped plans for an entirely new arena In Allston, which would have increased seating to about 3,000.

That's a big expense--probably works out to $30+ for each fan who shows up in the next 20 years.

Is it possible Metzendorf will strike again in Michigan? He apparently attended a workout today featuring 6’9” 2019 Caleb Hodgson. Do we have room for another 2019. Hodgson has an offer from at least Air Force.

Hodgson’s highlights I know nothing of the comp Very active on the boards and shot blocking out of his area. Scores inside and out Hits 3s off the catch and the bounce Can put it on the floor to finish or dish.
Interestingly, this video is followed by a couple of Drew Lowder, inc a 31 point game.

ESPN gives him a 75, 3 stars Before last season he was ranked 28th in the state slightly ahead of Lowder and Verbeek. His VC page 2 MAC offers Some Grass roots video in a high level tourney www.verbalcommits.com/players/caleb-hodgson

Without seeing the intro I would have guessed him to be 6-8. Video states he shot 50% on threes!. Made some very nice passes on this highlight reel. Handles the ball well for a big guy
Dansville high school appears to be tiny with one source saying it has 263 students in grades 9-12. Detroit Free Press had boys basketball team as #9 in Class C in one edition.

Carmody watched Hodgson last fall on his trek through Michigan and Illinois. Dartmouth was also in Dansville last week, as was Central Michigan (which offered him late last year).
If the rumor that one of the current PWOs will be on scholarship in 2019 is true, then there's no room for another 2019. Maybe Hodgson, who got no offers this summer, is considering a PG year.

Possible, but it looks as if he has at least 4 solid offers now : Air Force, 2 directional Michigans and Loyola Marymount. So a prep year seems doubtful. If we do have a schollie and he does not want the military, we are clearly the best academic choice of the other options.

Dansville is a Class C (3rd out of 4 classifications) school with 244 students participating in the Central Michigan Athletic Conference. It is located about 25-30 miles SE of Lansing. Looking at the 2018-19 schedule, the competition in the CMAC is not particularly strong, probably less than that faced by BV and certainly less than DL and RW. However, according to VC, he has a very high GPA and averaged 23 pts. and 13 rebounds per game. Based on watching the film clips on him, I’d say hchoops’ summary above is on point.
I like the height/weight ratio now and he certainly looks like he has the frame to have a Whearty-like physical development with the proper training. The film clips showed he can shoot and can put the ball on the floor and get to the basket. Didn’t see any dunks or low block set-ups with post moves. At the defensive end, he seemed like a decent rebounder and a very good outlet passer but, looking at the comp, it is hard to judge how well those skills would transfer to D-1 with much bigger and faster opposition.
Will check with some Michigan sources to see if any of them has seen him play in person.
