Thanks, hoops. He looks like the type of scholar-athlete that could make it big at HC.

Thanks for these reports, hoops. If Torrence is now 6'3" it means he has grown 6" in three years. If he has another year with that type of growth and his shot, this is one special athlete. [2014: "The 5-foot-9 shooter is an excellent combo guard with a solid understanding of the game."]

From Evansville Courier:
College coaches can start contacting potential recruits beginning June 15 following a player's sophomore year in high school. When midnight struck that night, DeVault's phone started ringing.
It also didn't take long for scholarship offers to manifest.
A rising junior in the Class of 2019, DeVault has had an exciting start to his college recruitment. The 6-foot-9 forward from Memorial received two scholarship opportunities from IUPUI and Western Illinois.
"Right at midnight we had 3 or 4 colleges text us," DeVault said of that first night. "This has all happened in two weeks. It's been exciting."
Both scholarship offers came on June 22, a week after coaches could contact the soon-to-be junior. DeVault was on an unofficial visit to IUPUI, getting a tour of the facilities and meeting the coaches. Before he left Indianapolis, he had a Division I offer in his possession.
Next was a visit to Wright State. DeVault said the coaches liked him but they didn't want to rush with an offer. However, he was soon on the phone with Western Illinois, who gave him a second scholarship opportunity.
In addition, DeVault has also heard from Tulane, Holy Cross and Indiana State.

david robinson and cj mccollum are the only players i can remember experiencing such an extreme and concentrated growth spurt. and i thought both of those guys were more in the 6-7 inches in a year or two range. definitely agree with your point about cba. their style would seem to translate very well to hc. here's a little bit of cohen in action. he has a nice, thick frame which is somewhat rare for players with sudden growth spurts. looks comfortable throwing his body around. there are some full cba games recorded for those really interested (or bored).

It wan't quite as short a time span, but incoming Bucknell guard Jimmy Sotos grew 14 inches in a little over three years. Entered HS at 5'1". Was 6'3" during his senior season. Muscala had a big growth spurt as well. Went from being a 6-1 guard to a 6-9 center in a three year span in HS. Then grew two more inches his first two years at Bucknell.

That was taken his freshman year - when he was listed at 5-2 on the roster. His roster heights were 5-2 as a frosh, 5-7 as a soph, 5-11 as a junior, and 6-1 as a senior. Was listed at 6-3 his freshman year at Lehigh.

I grew 9 inches in high school and then 4 more after that. Unfortunately I did not have great basketball talent at any of the heights along that span......
