Somebody must be looking at the board...there's been a lot less "blessed" on these tweets lately!

I thought exactly the same thing, Tim! I am sorry, recruits/offerees, feel free to be "blessed."

Is it just my imagination, or are we extending the most offers to wide receivers? Might some of them be switched to be DBs?

I certainly hope so, especially for all the ones that are listed as "WR/DB." Our greater need is on D.

Off topic, but as for DBs, I talked with Chris Riley's uncle (CR's dad grew up in Mattapoisett before moving to Florida) over the break...should be back healthy next year after shoulder surgery. Secondary seemed to really miss his presence once he went down last season.

That is very good news. Riley is a very talented DB and I have been hoping that he would have a good recovery and would be ready to go for 2018.
The defensive backfield was riddled with injuries last year and that really hurt our overall defense. Glad to see that the DB positions (and the WR position) seem to have been a point of emphasis in recruiting the incoming class.

Thanks, 92. VERBAL COMMIT #13. Hopefully that number 13 brings him (and HC) much good luck in the next four years!

NLI signing day is one month away

Today is the last day of the dead period for recruiting. With that said my guess would be there will be a number of offers coming out over the next 2-3 weeks in anticipation of Feb. 7 Signing Day. There weren't a ton of offers from now to the Signing Day last year, but obviously this is different with new Head Coach, coaching staff. Hopefully the two new coordinators coming from 2 other FCS schools will make a big difference.
My guess is OL, QB (depth), TE are going to be focus points. They already have 4 DB's, 3 WR's (also Blaise Bell coming back for 5th year).
They only have 1 OL signed with I believe 4-5 leaving. I could see another DL and LB as well.

Did not know Blaise will be back. That's great. He never quite clicked at QB but has made some great catches at WR and has nice size.

I am glad he made the decision to return and to play for Chesney.

Fair warning. I don't have inside knowledge of Blaise Bell, rather he showed up on the 2018 roster along with the other Juniors who are now listed as Seniors. I took this to indicate he would be coming back for a 5th year.

I think we really missed Brendan Flaherty and my favorite Jake Wieczorek last year. It will be very good to have Blaise Bell and Richie DeNicola back. I also think Tenio Ayeni could have a really big season

I also think Tenio Ayeni could have a really big season In my humble opinion, Pujals' performance in 2017 was detrimentally affected by the absence of Flaherty and Wieczorek (as well as the injury to DeNicola). I have high hopes that Degenhardt will meet all expectations in 2018.

I agree. I have those same high hopes for Degenhardt. He was recruited pretty decently by a few FBS schools for a reason. Hopefully it's going to translate to a great 3 years.

At the risk of stating something very obvious, Degenhardt is another example of the downside of the PL redshirt rule. With a very good and very experienced 5th year senior QB (PP) and the presence of more-than-capable and experienced fill-ins (in case of injury), this would have been an opportune time for a non-medical redshirt year. Would be nice to have a three-star get an opportunity to lead us for 4 years in the PL (and not 3).
On another note, I too think Blaise Bell is one of our best. I know he didn't play in any games his frosh year but I don't remember him as being injured that year. Glad he is coming back.

Not sure I am ready to concede the quarterback race to Degenhardt. Wade has clearly shown he has toughness and ability (anyone remember Harvard 2016?).

Don't think anyone would concede the quarterback race to anyone at this point. Would expect an open competition at each position next year. Certainly Wade has shown he is a good quarterback.
(I've seen FBS/FCS schools bring in a highly recruited quarterback and, if he does not win primary or backup job, redshirt him. PL does not have that option - would have worked out well for us last year.)
