Yes, 55 years ago, back when college track and field mattered even a little bit in the Northeast.

A practice track suitable for division 1 athletes to train on and a recreational track are two completely different things. Back in Fr. McF's day, the NFH was to have a 200 meter indoor track. It would have looked like this: ^^^^^ Same architect as HC. ^^^^ This is Clemson's indoor track. Built for $3.6 million a decade ago. Clemson is installing a banked track Clemson's architect. www.mcmillanpazdansmith.com/portfolio/clemson-university-indoor-track-facility

That would have been an absolute disaster for all of the field sports that will benefit greatly from it (lacrosse, soccer, baseball, softball, field hockey, football).

The Reggie Lewis indoor track in Boston is very active.....for high schools track championships and, I believe, pro runners. Are college teams active there?

The Reggie Lewis indoor track in Boston is very active.....for high schools track championships and, I believe, pro runners. Are college teams active there? More college meets at BU than Reggie Lewis but HC still runs there a couple of times per year. An ideal situation would be to build a facility on campus to host meets and use for practice. HS meets could also be held there which would be a great easy recruiting tool for athletes and even for kids who compete in high school but don't plan to do so in college. I unfortunately don't foresee that type of facility at any time in the near future. I would be happy with a bubble being blown up over the outdoor track each winter. You would not have home meets but would be able to train. And to the point made above, an indoor track would defeat much of the purpose of the new indoor facility. It is all about choices.

Find other areas to cut, like the marketing budget. Cut the ferkakta 2 for 1's in basketball and play $$$ games. Add $1 per football and basketball game tickets. Have a Bubble campaign that small donors can contribute to. Inter alia.

OK. For all you supporters who have not given to the HC Fund yet this year, you have about 10 more hours to go. Participation counts (not $ value) so donors large & small are appreciated. And you can designate where you want it to go (though there is no bubble fund. Sorry. ). www.givecampus.com/schools/CollegeoftheHolyCross/50-500-000/?a=559453

Great post, 8485.
And just to get the competitive juices going, here are the percentages of giving as of yesterday by classes for those classes that I am aware of who have Crossporters. Remember that any class ending in a "7" or a "2" is a reunion class and normally those classes have greater participation rates:
'62 - 62% '63 - 67% '67 - 73% '68 - 56% '69 - 51% '70 - 56% '71 - 47% '72 - 61% '73 - 45% '77 - 54% '83 - 49% '85 - 49% '87 - 45%

Just giving credit where credit is due as I have in the past. '67 was, and is, an outstanding class. Great leadership when they were on campus and leaders in their subsequent lives. While some love and some detest his political bent and aggressive public persona, I think Chris Matthews epitomizes the Class of '67 love for Holy Cross.

I am. But I am more against ferkakta 2 for 1's resulting in 4 road games and 2 neutral site games. Play UMass and URI at their place for $$. If you really need to upgrade track facilities then playing $$$ games is a necessary evil. imho

I am guessing football and basketball "pay games" would be used to offset the expenses in those respective sports and not diverted to some other sport.

I am guessing football and basketball "pay games" would be used to offset the expenses in those respective sports and not diverted to some other sport. Well, that would be a change from the 80's. TV revenue from football was diverted to purchase and install the Taylor & Booty organ.

See? Now we have that organ and don't need to divert the money there.
