I am sure this was explained somewhere in the past, but what do the stars over each poster's Avatar stand for?

The Administrator has the ability to set tiering of the number of posts with stars, colors of stars and titles for each tier.
Example (hypothetical, as I don't know what the cut offs were established by Dean Wormer):
1-100 posts "Novice" 1 star 101-250 posts "Junior Member" 2 stars 251-500 posts "Member" 3 stars 501-1,000 posts "Expert" 4 stars etc. etc. etc.

Like the title of your "rank" (Newbie ... Frosh ... Soph ... Cum Laude ... Togo's Troops ... etc ) Stars are lnked to the number of posts you've made:
Highest level is currently for Reaching 5000 Posts, which puts you in the Kaftan MOP Circle and earns 10 Stars. Though there is an option to award different colored stars, all stars on out board are purple because, once you have purple, there is no need for any other color!
If anyone is really interested, I'll post the full table of ranks & stars when I have some time.

I expect it could be compiled How about a notification %... # of notifications / # of posts... as a rough indication of quality? Maybe the stars are based on this % but don't kick in until a significant # [500?] of posts have been made...

I am sure this was explained somewhere in the past, but what do the stars over each poster's Avatar stand for? It is a rating of the quality of your posts by the review committee, which is composed of Sarasota, Dean Wormer and HC70.

So you think quality is determined by a poll of one's peers. A very telling attitude. This approach certainly puts a premium on Correctness. If you don't understand that, then you've never understood what "Political Correctness" means.

A poster rating system?? Seriously? Some of us still have day jobs. Don't expect any analytics (advanced or otherwise) on posters vis a vis likes & dislikes. Only thing you'll see is number of posts. And quality of a post is in the eye of the reader and posting that type of information makes it too easy for folks to pick on a dissenter and skew the metrics against one or two posters. Don't want to go there and is the reason we don't display the total number of likes and dislikes posters have accumulated.

No worries RGS. It's Crossports. We can take any topic, in any direction, and we often do. This one at least has stayed in the general vicinity of where it started!
