An Email today from HC helps us all keep our beloved college in proper perspective:
Today, July 31, is the feast day of St. Ignatius Loyola, founder of the Society of Jesus. Ignatius is often referred to as a "worldly saint" because he made sure that the early Jesuits spent most of their time in relatively secular spaces, such as classrooms, hospitals and prisons. He wanted Jesuits to go out and "find God in all things."
Core to Holy Cross's mission is its Catholic and Jesuit identity, and the completion of the Joyce Contemplative Center exemplifies our commitment to enhancing this dimension of the Holy Cross experience. Since its opening in September 2016, the center has hosted a wide variety of retreats rooted in the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius. These retreats are an opportunity to step away from our daily routines, to learn more about Ignatian forms of prayer and develop habits of discernment, enabling us to return to family and work better able to "find God in all things."
The Office of the College Chaplains invites alumni to experience the Joyce Contemplative Center by participating in an upcoming retreat tailored specifically for them. The schedule for the fall and spring semesters is located below.
