Back in the hotel following the game... Been to Dartmouth twice in my lifetime, both times they lose. Probably won't come back again! The positives today: * Beautiful weather! * Wonderful restaurant for supper (jesse's steakhouse and seafood! * Great companionship with the sader1970's! * Roundtrip shuttle bus service from the parking lot to Memorial Field! * Beautiful area in Hanover and on campus! The negatives: * Very, very frustrating loss! * Special teams were very disappointing (extra point muffed - looked like the holder could not put the ball upright), two fumbled punts with one leading to a TD. * Dartmouth seemed better prepared for us. For much of the game, they played with 4 down linemen and 7 back. * Our O-line and D-line need to do better. * Last week we were teased into thinking that we were better than we actually are. Only time will tell! While I have no qualms about going for 2 pts and the win, I do have difficulty understanding why we went for the field goal, down 6 with about 6 minutes left with a 4th and 2... We had just made 3 straight on 4th down and I think 6 for 6 for the game!

Well, 4-3 for the week so I had a "winning record" of picks. I have to imagine that the points given up in the PL games yesterday (I believe it was 295!!!) must be a record for weak defense.
The loss was difficult to fathom, especially the role of the special teams. I had thought kicking problems were in our past. While the game announcers were not "terrible," they were strictly amateur. We were repeatedly given wrong information and they then tried to cover the blunders by saying that the officials were "giving" a back more or fewer yards instead of admitting that was actually where the ball was correctly placed. They were not as bad as some, but certainly not top notch. Of course I do not know where they were sitting and their angle on plays, but what they said almost never matched what was listed on the tv graphics or what I saw actually happening.
On to Fitton and Lafayette. Let's keep our undefeated record in the PL.
