Yanks didn't hit enough to advance, didn't play mistake-free enough to advance either. Hats off to the Astros, what a squad.
I think it's one of the hosts on WFAN here in NY that once said that every team will win 60 games, and every team will lose 60 games. The winning and losing teams will impose their will or win/lose those games that could go either way-- the "other 42"-- and determine those teams' fate.
The Yankees had two, maybe three games that could be categorized as the "other 42" and lost 'em all. That's the difference... small margin of error, even in a 7 game series.

Could have been them quoting him, which I missed. Thanks, Craig. Speaking of Dodgers, it'd be pretty cool if they won. I like a lot of their young, home-grown talent like Bellinger (thanks for the fantasy win) and Taylor. Lasorda seems to be involved still with the team, if only as an icon, and seems to be a likeable guy.

I'm rooting for LA as well, but entirely because -- and this is something on which you and I can definitely agree -- Grandy is one of the best teammates and all-around human beings in all of sports, and he deserves a ring. This might be his last shot.

My Facebook picture was Curtis Granderson at the time I started dating my now wife. At the time, she was confused why this person who looked so different than me was requesting her as a friend. This was pre-Yankees, too. Prime Grandyman days.

Some cheese with that wine, Tom ? Always. FWIW, I'm a die hard homer and as such would like to see the Yankees go 0-162 every year. My comment was meant to be a taunt rather than a whine. Although, I'm not a big fan of the new alignment which means there has to be an inter-league game every single day. Except for a 3 week span when the Indians were ridiculously hot, the Astros were the best team all season long and deserve the pennant. Even if they did beat the Red Sox

Are you speaking about the five elimination games faced by the Yankees in the playoffs? If so, they won four of them. That was one short of what was needed to get into the WS, but the Yanks certainly did not lose them all, did they? If you are speaking about the regular season, didn't the Yanks get into the playoffs - and eliminate Cleveland?

Nah, I was only really referring to this series. They held the Astros offense down quite a bit, but couldn't capitalize. A couple of missed Sanchez plays at the plate, some real throwaway at-bats... Frazier missing the HR by just a little bit, missing hits to 3B twice in as many games... I'm nit picking but those were the plays I was referring to. The team overachieved in my expectations so I'm still pleased and eager to see what next year will bring.

Good point, hoops. I, as a Yankee fan, want the Yankees to win every game against the hated Red Sox. BUT, I want the Sox to win all of their other games against the rest of MLB. It only makes the Yankee wins sweeter.

Girardi not being brought back. Not the move I would have made (unless you asked me right after the no replay debacle). Will be interesting to see who they choose. I’m guessing AAA manager Al Pedrique.

Was the main factor the Cashman-Girardi rift ? I wish the Mets had waited a week.

Was the main factor the Cashman-Girardi rift ? I wish the Mets had waited a week. Not clear but most stories seem to cite their deteriorating relationship. Rob Thompson and Kevin Long seem to be the favorites. Thompson seems the more likely choice between those two.
