Need to investigate the possibility to embed tweets in posts.

Here's how you do that:
1. Copy the URL of the specific Tweet you want to embed (the URL itself, not the embed code) 2. Click on the Reply button (Quick Reply won't work) 3. The last function button on that page has coding brackets (<_>). Click on it and select Twitter 4. Paste the Tweet URL and submit

So...who are the new board moderators?
All of the messaging tied to this new board has a first-person plural tense. Presuming the folks behind the scenes are: 1. Not the original CROSSPORTS, as he would have likely identified himself on his website and here, and 2. Someone familiar with the old site's foibles and failings, and 3. More than one person, as it's wise to share editorial authority with more than one admin.
Care to ID yourself? Perhaps you don't so as to avoid any preconceived biases - I don't care either way...just curious.
Edit: Ok, at least one admin is evident if you do enough digging. So are we talking about a 'royal we' or are there more than one admin?

Not fully decided yet, but it is definitely not a royal we. Crossports is still around but just has not registered yet as Crossports yet. Ultimately there could be 3 - 5 with moderators.
A little background ...
The previous board had 1 moderator. When we started having problems last summer and again in December, I suggested we look for a new platform since I had read and used several. Crossports asked me if I'd be willing to look around for a new platform. I was and found this one and mocked up a board. About a dozen regular posters I know personally were invited to test drive this board for a week or two and provide suggestions and thoughts on this platform. We then left it idle until the board died this week, we (Crossports, myself and at lest 2 other beta testers) "decided" to pull the trigger on this one.
One of the things Crossports suggested early on was that the board needed more than 1 moderator. Since he, I and many posters here have day jobs, keeping up with every post on every board, every day is tough for one person so we'd need a couple more. By having more than 1 moderator, on those very rare occasions when a post or series of posts crosses a line, we'll be able to respond to it in a more timely fashion.
I think 3, in addition to Crossports, have volunteered to help of with this board. I thought that alias made sense, given the role a moderator might play and that the we have the function available to suspend members for a set period of time - a double secret probation if you will.
With respect to the rules, those are basically the unofficial rules Crossports has always used, but thought actually writing them down would help maintain decorum. I expect other than look and functions on this board, things will seem like we never left the old platform quite rapidly.
And, like the old board, I suspect you will see very little of Dean Wormer, Crossports or any other moderator after the first couple of weeks.
Hope this helps.

Guys the effort is there but I fear this is the death of crossports. Can we somehow go back to excoboard? The layout and feel is so much better than this. What exactly happened? Freeforums.net will not be around for very long and has similar outages.

This new forum seems "busy" compared to the old forum and most people, including myself, are resistant to change. But, we'll get used to it. I was one of the beta testers and I think over time, we will find this platform superior to the old one. Despite not having a "day job," I politely declined to be a moderator for two reasons: 1. I have been working with HC to create a message board for the Class of 1970 to complement the Class website that should be up and running shortly and I would be the administrator for that one and 2. I am self-aware enough to realize that I would be pulling the plug on posters a lot faster than some others. That said, I've noticed some of the more "outspoken" posters from Crossports have not yet migrated over here. Or at least have held their fire, so far.
Thanks and kudos to the current administrators and moderators, especially 8485.

Verification,
For the 3rd time in less than a year, the excoboard crashed and crashed hard. We had to move somewhere else.
If you have a suggestion, or think there is a better host, please suggest it or better yet, start to develop it, contact Crossports and run a trial. If it's an improvement, we can switch again and in an orderly fashion.
In the mean time, there are things we can adjust to potentially improve the look and feel here. What changes would you like to see in the look and feel?

I'd rather have the old crossports for 3 days a week than this one for 7. Everything crashes. Lets give excoboard the benefit of the doubt. I guarantee you this board will crash just as often as the last. I don't see the reason for the drastic change. This can be our "back up" for when things go south on excoboard. I texted over 10 posters and they all agreed. Maybe create a poll? This is WAY too busy and has way too many advertisements. My suggestion is to go back. I appreciate the effort but this really would deter me from posting along with others.

We can go ad free, but that costs and if I read correctly, limits page views and charges more when you exceed it. I see 3 ads on this page right now. Not sure Excoboard was that different.
Two things that I don't think are working and perhaps plays into the busy feel. Font size, style, and the switching of font size when you hover over a link. Also the size of the avatar can be a bit distracting. Give me a few days to work on it, but realize as the changes are made, you could see some funky things going on as I am just learning this editing system.
As to a Poll, feel free to poll away.

I personally enjoy the feel and look of this platform much more as it seems more consistent with the way modern sites look and function when compared to excoboard. For those bothered by ads, adding this extension to your browser will remove all of them on this site, and many on other sites. adblockplus.org/

Message Section? You mean the "Shout Box" at the bottom of the page?

No, what used to be private messages on the old board now reads "messages" at the top of the home page

I tried to send this as a Private Message, but it would not go through:
***
I'd like to suggest a correction to the Board Rules post.
Toward the bottom, it currently reads:
3. NO Attempts to impersonate or otherwise use the name of another poster will not be tolerated.
I believe the word "not" toward the end of the sentence should be deleted.
Thanks.

Is it possible to change the settings of the profanity filters? I'm not opposed to having a filter, but perhaps curse words could be "bleeped" with dashes or asterisks rather than the current setting of altering the word (e.g. 'sh-t' becomes 'stuff,' 'fu--' becomes 'frig,' etc.).
Even if you keep the altering of the word, maybe you can at least not capitalize it? If I write, "This Stuff is a Friging joke," it looks ridiculous with the capital letters.
