Figge was at least under construction if not complete in the Fall of 2011. Luth has taken very few spaces - possibly just the spaces to the right as you exited the Hart Center. Maybe a few more temporarily with the road around the Hart closed. Softball field was on Freshman field in the Fall of 2011 too. So parking is essentially the same now as 2011.
Family weekend was the issue. They have so many activities going on all day Saturday and all of them are not on Fitton Field. If they were all at the FB game, I’d bet attendance would have been much higher than 9000.
And to get back on topic ... no issues with RSIG this past weekend or ever. And thanks to the generosity of another poster, I was able to park on the baseball field where the only problem I encountered was with the guy who parked just before me who immediately opened his door all the way making me wait a minute or so before I could pull all the way forward.

HC owns the property that was the site of the old HOJO’s.
HC received permission to use the property this year for parking for home football games and has been in operation for parking all season at $10.00 per car. The same as Freshmen field. There was actually more spaces available this year than in the past several years adjacent to the Football stadium due to the use of the HOJO site.

What?
There is 8 or so Worc cops on the frosh field and more elsewhere around Fitton every game,
I have not seen a Wprcester Police Officer at a HC football game in at least 4 years. And I’ve been to all of them. Perhaps you are confusing HC Police with the real thing. I’ve seen the so called security guards mistreat spectators. I see a few Worcester cops at every football game. There is zero chance anyone would confuse a Worcester cop with RSIG security. Someone might confuse campus security with a Worcester police officer. The uniforms are similar, but the police have a shoulder patch that clearly states Worcester Police

I think there is parking either there or right above where the old HoJo's was...not sure who manages the lot. Parking must be confusing for visitors, 1st timers etc... I'm still curious, not sure if anyone has the answer but could the campus and surrounding environs handle a 15-18K sized crowd today? I'm not sure. The parking garage looks like it would handle more cars than the old Carlin lot (Stein Hall). There are also lots of new spaces on both ends of McCarthy lane that runs from Loyola to the Hogan lots and starting this year (I think) parking on HoJos. In addition to losing the Carlin lot, they're putting fewer cars on Freshman Field than in the olden days. You can no longer park on the softball infield. Last time I was there there was also a football goal post that goofed up parking on some spots. The bigger question is surrounding environs. People used to park underneath the highway. That may or may not be legal today. I also remember cars parked on the 290 on-ramp. I'm pretty sure that's not allowed today. There are sections of college hill that are now marked "resident permit required" for on street parking. I remember parking in the old Riley Stoker facility when freshman field was full. I'm not sure of that status. I remember seeing card on McKeon all the way up to the Loyola gate road and on Southbridge street all the way to the gas station at Malvern road. I assume that is still good. The Worcester Tornadoes used to have a deal with National Grid to use their lot and had shuttle buses (even though we used to walk the same distance for football games back in the day) Lots of new spaces - spaces lost as well. It all adds up to a long winded, I don't know

Hopefully we'll find out when we open up our home slate next year with Yale at 2-0.

References to the Worcester PD and “campus security.”
Someone keep me honest here but my recollection was 4-5 years ago there was some controversy about HC campus security becoming a bonafide police department including the requisite being armed.
I don’t pay too much attention to this sort of thing but pretty sure I recall HC having “police” on their cars and packing heat. Not all but some, with police patches if so qualified.
Believe they have to pass Massachusetts police academy training.
Think I also recall some HC police in on some past off campus arrests.
If another case of phantom memory on my part, I know you will all correct me.
As for the “stormtroopers,” I have never had a problem but park in the garage as have not tailgated in years and only “issue” and minor at that was at the Hart leaving Bud Ryan and RSIG wanted to make sure my Diet Coke had no alcohol when I left. I offered to let him take a sip, which he politely declined and sheepishly said that was one of the things he was supposed to do, make sure no alcohol made it into the stands.

The tailgating in the 1980s, and probably into the 1990s, was getting pretty wild (kegs, people getting sick, not going into the games etc)....I think there was a "correction" in the other direction in the 21st C...liability issues etc. Saw this at most schools during this time period.
Maybe we're finding a "happy medium" in this era.

References to the Worcester PD and “campus security.” Think I also recall some HC police in on some past off campus arrests. Big difference between being "in on" an arrest and making an arrest. Campus security may have been present at off-campus arrests, but any actual arrests were made by city police officers. In fact, the school was having a paid detail of city police officers in the Caro St area on weekends to help keep things in check The school can choose to arm the campus security even if they do not have police authority. Many schools are going the bonafide police dept route where campus security has police authority on campus. This does require some level of academy. This does not require being armed. If they are armed, a higher level of training is required

I get that schools now need to supplement campus security/local cops, but to me RGIS doesn't represent Holy Cross well at all. In some cases I think they look for trouble, and their "maximum security" garb doesn't send a good message, either. I've been to Providence College twice this year for hockey games, and they employ a company called ESS. They dress like customer service agents -- slacks and a colorful golf-type polo -- and have been unfailingly friendly. They blend into the crowd more than stand out. I do think HC needs to keep an eye on this. Whether it's at Fitton or Hart, they need to do everything they can to create a welcoming vibe. The PC Hockey crew also has a difficult job with an outdoor pavilion where fans go to drink between periods and they have to check ID's for access. I have had very little problems with them at all and most of them used to be former Gillette Stadium employees. (No clue if they still work there)

Nothing weird except no tailgating at all for Homecoming. Have to go to some special area with a beer tent (and I assume buy burgers/dogs, etc)
