Dumpster fire night for the PL yesterday.
Colgate had a nice road comeback against Marist, coming back from 18 down only to lose by 2.
Navy only win with a road blowout of Coppin State.

colgate made a steal and a 3 pointer from half court at the end of their game, but upon review the shot came after the horn, and marist won by 2 army and navy a combined 13-6 so far this season.

If the PL is still 21 in Kenton, I want him doing my performance review! 😁

I haven't watched them at all, but is Bucknell not as good as we/they thought they would be? I disagree with the consensus. I think it's too early to tell but I would venture that they finish less than their 15-3 PL record from last year and 76th KenPom ranking. Depending on how good you thought they might be, they might not be as good as you expected. Regardless, they are still the clear favorite to win the PL. Their replacement starters, Moore and Sotos, are arguably playing better (at least as far as offensive efficiency with similar usage) than their injured starters Toomer and Mackenzie were with similar usage which pokes a few holes in the "Bucknell is only struggling cause Toomer and Mackenzie are out theory." Obviously moving up Moore and Sotos hurt their depth and is affecting their performance, but I don't think you can totally use this to explain their ~relative disappointment~ when Sotos and Moore have played fairly well as replacements for Toomer and Mackenzie. Defensively this version of the Bucknell team is really struggling compared to last year's version, and its hard to figure out how much that has to do with their starters being out; but it looked like that might have been happening before Toomer and Mackenzie became injured. Will they figure it out? My answer is probably and mostly, but maybe not totally compared to last year.

SCS, will make a wager with you that Bucknell loses no more than three games in the PL. $50 sound good? What's your Venmo?

SCS, will make a wager with you that Bucknell loses no more than three games in the PL. $50 sound good? What's your Venmo? That's a very interesting proposition. KenPom has Bucknell favored in every PL game and going 14-4 in conference. He suggests the three toughest games (with Bucknell favored at 56-58%) are at Army, at Colgate, @ Navy. My guess is that his projection for Bucknell will grow even more optimistic if MacKenzie and Toomer return and begin to help the offensive & defensive numbers on which KenPom bases his ratings and forecasts. One other thought--the KenPom forecast does not include the PL tourney. When you finalize the terms of this wager make sure to pin down if that is included

It's a shame that American (298) and Holy Cross (297) -- two programs that used to carry this league (albeit the two programs with more scholarships than others at the time) -- are not pulling their weight this year. We have Army, Navy, and Colgate all ranked inside the top 200. If HC and AU were at that level, the PL would be ranked probably as the #16 - #18 league.

I'll be surprised if Bucknell loses more than a game in the league they are by far the most talented and experienced team and have the leagues top two players.

Pomeroy makes following projections
Colgate 12% likelihood of winning Lehigh 78% Loyola 52% Lafayette 45% Holy Cross 55% American U 79%
So that suggests 3 wins as likeliest result
Would be great to win both of the 78-79% games and 2 of the 3 45-55% tossups.
Most importantly--would be great to see a Holy Cross turnaround and win today, hopefully a dominant one but I'd settle for a 39-38 win in OT

What's your Venmo? 50 is a little too rich for my blood as a grad student but i'd do another 10 dollar bet to HC or BU basketball if you are interested. My side being Bucknell loses more than 3 games in the Patriot League regular season and yours being Bucknell loses 3 games or less.
