Watched the Thursday night game: Arizona State and Kansas State in Las Vegas and when I turned it on, I saw the Arizona Coach (Dan Hurley) arguing a call with an official. Couldn't believe it! Yes, the official was none other than Bill McCarthy! ! Later in the action the Kansas State Coach (Bruce Weber) also went at it with McCarthy over another call! ! Maybe Bill relocated from CT to the desert thus keeping him away from our games! ! Looks like he is still in the northeast but managed to get a nice multi-site officiating vacation. Here are the games he has done this year: 11/10/2017 Elon vs. Duke Durham, NC 11/13/2017 Florida Gulf Coast vs. Siena Albany, NY 11/16/2017 Virginia Tech Hokies vs. Saint Louis Billikens New York, NY 11/17/2017 Yale vs. Albany Albany, NY 11/20/2017 Notre Dame vs. Chaminade Maui, HI
11/21/2017 VCU vs. California Maui, HI
11/22/2017 Marquette vs. LSU Maui, HI 11/23/2017 Kansas State Wildcats vs. Arizona State Sun Devils Las Vegas, NV 11/24/2017 Kansas State Wildcats vs. George Washington Colonials Las Vegas, NV
Btw, when Bucknell played West Virginia in Buffalo last March in the NCAA tournament, the first game of the doubleheader was Notre Dame vs Princeton. One of the refs for that game was none other than Bill McCarthy.

Looking ahead, UMass has just 8 players on scholarship, and 2 walk-ons on the bench....

Looking ahead, UMass has just 8 players on scholarship, and 2 walk-ons on the bench.... To clarify, UMass has only 8 scholarship players eligible this year, but they also have four scholarship transfers sitting out the season - from LSU, Memphis, Rutgers, and Fairfield. They also had an incoming transfer from Maryland who was immediately eligible as a grad student - but his career was ended due to heart problems.

They also had an incoming transfer from Maryland who was immediately eligible as a grad student - but his career was ended due to heart problems. He had a condition that any EKG would show. Sadly some universities as Maryland do not make EKG part of the normal physical for their athletes. Now heard a rumor that Holy Cross is playing UMass Wednesday night. Don't see a thread, so must be just a rumor. Went ahead and started a thread on our site. Shocked their is not much about it. There is a lot of talk regarding our new coach and kids buying in. Hoping for a good game, the sentiment seems to be on Coach McCall side (mostly regarding the last game and benching Chris Baldwin) that it's better to have the tough love. Has the interest faded away on both sides and will this be the end of the match-ups. Hard to tell as Matt McCall may have his own preferences in match-ups. www.umasshoops.com/newboard/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=15316

Steve--rest assured there will be plenty of talk on the board about the game before, during, and perhaps especially after it is played..

IMHO the 2-1 series should be allowed to die.

With the "one and done" and the 3...parity probably has never been greatah than it is today at high major/mid major levels...unfortunately, we aren't part of that world.

Duke looked like they took control with about 3 minutes to go, went up 5, had the ball...and fell apart. Congrats to BC.
