MSG game was in 1977 finals of MSG Classic against Seton Hall, we won despite Mike' s ejection in first half for punching SH player. Seeing Mike at Hart over the years marvel at what great shape he's in for 60+ looks like could still go out and play. Hope someday to see he and Potter's jerseys raised to rafters as they certainly fueled the 70's turnaround. Would like to see it happen together as I always thought of them as a tandem. Despite their polar opposite personalities their respective talents blended perfectly to produce exciting winning teams. Thinking back to that era the games between the New England teams were unbelievably competitive and played in front of rabid fan bases.

After two horrendous seasons (my soph and junior years, 72-73 and 73-74) we were told that these two freshmen Potter and Vicens were outstanding and my senior year would be a turnaround. As it turned out, they were beyond outstanding---it's hard to convey just how good these guys were and what an impact they had on the HC program as we moved to the Hart Center and later added RP junior.

If 1st team all American is criteria I guess we'll never see another jersey raised to the rafters

Thinking of Potter/Vicens I looked back at a few of those seasons. One thing that caught my eye was the collapse of the BC team in 75-76. It was the senior year of Carrington, Collins and Morrison three of the famed Boston 5. That team was coming off two twenty win seasons and had gone to the NCAA tourney after beating us in the finals in 74-75. The next year the same team went 9-17 and didn't appear to have any significant injuries. Hoops do you remember anything in particular about that team which led to the huge drop off. I followed all the NE teams of that era very closely and can't recall anything, but it's very strange that a team that good could fall off so badly.

Lock the thread!!!
We have strayed far off topic. This is supposed to be about Austin Butler, not Michael Vicens.

I know for sure that Austin Butler did not play on either BC or HC in those years. He is, after all, the main focus of this thread, isn't he?
