No pressure of (unrealistic) high expectations though I actually expect HC to win every game every year. I am giving him some leeway to get his feet on the ground against BC. Glad you are not my AD

Very interested to see how Chez will round out his staff, and if he will bring any of his guys over from Assumption. And if there's a chance he keeps ANY of our staff, which includes several recent HC alum

I am definitely a supporter of Bill Carmody and believe he has us moving in the right direction but I have to say that today marks the most excited I have ever been by an HC head coaching hire. Best of luck Bob Chesney!

So, will he bring his father along with him?

So, will he bring his father along with him? I would guess he will bring his father and that may have been a condition of accepting the job.

Wadaya talkin about, hoops? Bringing your family into the business is S.O.P. nowadays. But maybe that's just in real estate?

Doubtful Not the best optic UNH has a female head coach who hired her husband as her top assistant. It isn’t like Chesney’s father will be a top assistant but maybe he makes him the director of football operations like Holy Cross lax has the wife of Judd doing that job.

I don't know his dad, so I have no opinion. There are some things I would like to know before I get worked up either way: 1. can he coach - and which specialty? 2. does he have a region where he recruits (with contacts) that could help HC 3. will he be offered a position 3. does he even want to come to HC?

I say we let Chesney put his own staff together. Doesn’t concern me one way or the other if he decides his dad should be part of it. The Dad has been a football coach forever. It’s not like he’d be putting his Crazy Uncle Phil on the staff because Phil likes whistles and Bike shorts.

We're not talking big $$$."

1. Welcome coach Chesney and here’s to much success on the south side of town. I’m looking forward to see what he does with the program. 2. Apparently being supervised by a relative isn’t viewed in the same way in college athletics as it is in other college departments and workplaces, so if he wants dad on staff, go for it. 3. I hope someone tells Uncle Phil we’re an Adidas school so Bike shorts are off the table.

You guys/gals/?, have completely gone off the rails with this! We just hired what looks like the best coach, a rising star according to many in the business, and your worried about what involvement his dad will have? Let it go! Hopefully he does not and will not read Crosssports, because if he does/will, based upon the ridiculously insane comments by a few, would certainly opt for a better gig elsewhere! ! Please, give the guy a break! He has just increased his daily travel by 400%! (Home to Assumption ( 3 minutes, 1.4 miles) home to Holy Cross ( 12 minutes, 5.5 miles)! !

According to the Telegram update, Bob Chesney will be introduced as the new head coach of HC football at 5:00pm in the Luth Athletic Complex at Holy Cross! Good timing as this is 2 hours before the Holy Cross basketball game with Iona at 7:00pm! Hoping for a well attended crowd for both events! We will just have to plan on having an earlier dinner to get there on time! See you there! Well done Holy Cross! !

Too bad his offensive coordinator left earlier this month and took the head coaching job at another institution and not followed him to Holy Cross! Would have made for some very interesting comments! !

The Bob Chesney Sr discussion should be sent directly to the Varsity Club for immediate induction into the HC Hall of Fame.
