HC hosts Dartmouth on Wednesday at 11:05 am. There should be many elementary school students at this game and here will be loud support for the Crusaders.
The Big Green are currently 7-3 (2-2 on the road). Their losses are to Army, Maine and at Ohio State. Massey makes them a 4 point favorite (66-62) with a 66% chance for the win.

This is a very good Dartmouth (7-3) team. They just played two P5 schools on the road, beating Colorado (7-2 record) 81-75, and losing to no.13 Ohio St 101-70 (having trailed by only 12 at the half). I wish our program had the guts (and ability) to play two such games. Stating the obvious that this game is a major opportunity for HC to make a statement.

When HC did play games like this (remember UConn?) it brought a lot of criticism on this board.

women's basketball has a wide divide in D.1, I am sure you know. I'm not talking UCONN who beats most teams by 40+, let's talk about a challenging ooc schedule which we obviously don't want to play. our ooc rpi is 315 ! (out of 349 ?) d.1 schools. Where our women's team has fallen in the last decade is sad. Are you impressed with the Big Green winning in Boulder ? We used to have teams that could challenge such a P5 team in the past.

To your point, UConn would be a 16-point favorite over Ohio State on a neutral court and a 32-point favorite over Colorado (Sagarin). HC would have the ability to hang around with a team like Colorado on many nights. Not like UConn.

Big Green by 8 at the half 34-26 - they are clearly the superior team, outscoring us 24-8 in the quarter 13 HC t/o's in the half. We're still in it but have to play so much better in the 2nd half.

17-5 run for HC to open the 2nd half - now leading 43-39 - It's toughness time to keep the momentum on our side and play solid ball the rest of the way. A real test. Let's pass it !

68 all after regulation - we led 68-64 with one minute to go and had the ball. manis turned it over and then forced a contested layup. She's our best player but sometimes she tries to do it all.

Dartmouth wins, 76-74. Horrible frustration foul in the back-court by Smith with 3.7 tics left gives Dartmouth two freebies, which shooter drained.

we blew this game in about 10 ways. just SAD. Dartmouth had an off-day in so many ways. we lose 78-76. Nightmares for our coaches. The type of game Gibbons has not won in the last decade. Unless we find a way to make a run in the PL, I see no reason why NP will take a close look at this program's leadership

Why were both teams in huddles at the end of the game (tuned in to see the score posted as a final)? Was there some kind of dispute they were waiting to get a decision on?

meant to say 'why NP will not take a close look at this program's leadership'. When will 'any' HC team win a contest against a better opponent? It just doesn't happen anymore.

I knew exactly what you meant even if you didn't point out your error. I think one would want to see an improvement in the poise category (and other things) as the season goes along, or I would agree. Apparently did not see it today.

Barring a cataclysm, believe Gibbons will stay until he chooses to leave.

Well, for the good of the program, he should look in the mirror, and ask himself if he should accept this 'lifetime contract'. 33 years is a long time in any job, and maybe he agrees.

Absolutely brutal loss though I'm pretty sure Gibbons didn't call for the foul with 3 seconds left. Not always the coaching.

Barring a cataclysm, believe Gibbons will stay until he chooses to leave. What else would he do at his age (57)? I assume he has a defined benefit pension, and the future payout from that keeps growing year by year. 36 years at HC, 33 as head coach. Gibbons has been at HC longer than Geno has been at UConn, without Geno's record, --a record that is a recruiting magnet.
