No one has Geno's record...that's an unfair comparison for anyone.

Don't believe that's phreek's point. Gibbons has few viable options between here and age 65, so he's financially de-incentivized to leave - and on the flip side, when was the last time a coach with 600 wins got fired, with the exception of the certifiable Bobby Knight?

did you see the last HC possession of OT ? Major coaching blunder by BG After the timeout, he sends a player, Swords, back on the floor, BY MISTAKE ! he rushes Doherty (for ball handling) to the scorers table and asks that she enter the game. This is denied by the officials as 'too late'. We turn the ball over (just as we did with the last possession in regulation) . Sorry guys, that's Coaching !

Don't disagree with you at all, haze, that there is a coaching issue. But the fact is, Holy Cross hasn't won a regular-season title in thirteen years and hasn't been to the NCAAs in more than ten. If the last decade of mediocrity isn't considered sufficient cause to make a change, I don't think more of the same will make much difference to TPTB when a lifer is involved.

That was my point. The comparison with Geno was made because Geno has no trouble recruiting. CBG, on the other hand, is not getting the type of impact player(s) that can lift the program out of the middle of the PL pack, or worse. He has 594 wins, and next year is the last year on his current contract. If he gets 18 more wins this season and next, and becomes the all-time winningest HC coach, then I think next season could be his last.

I believe the ref made her stay on the court since the ball was never put into play. Coaching wasn't the reason they lost the game in regulation or in overtime. The players made mistakes which cost them the game.

meant to say 'why NP will not take a close look at this program's leadership'. When will 'any' HC team win a contest against a better opponent? It just doesn't happen anymore. Forget UNH In football already?

At the end of regulation (I believe we were up by 2) he has frosh Faulkner throwing the ball in from the sideline. She proceeds to literally throw it to a Dartmouth player. Always a good idea to have a veteran player on the throw in when you know the opponent will be pressuring the in-bounds pass.
We have 2 seniors starting and a 3rd (Doherty) seeing a lot of time. This team has veteran leadership. However it happened, we can all agree we threw this game away. On to to league play and best to forget this one as quickly as possible.

True on that one play...the other ones are more about execution or lack of but this is a game that they could of had and played very well for 35 minutes.

School kids! Most had to leave before the end of overtime to get back to school. HC and CBG do this one game a year. Nice tradition.

The ones that left were leaving in the middle of the fourth quarter. I think one school left before the fourth

From NCAA WBB rules on substitutions:
g. Substitutes during a timeout or during the intermission following the first or third periods must report to or be in position to report to the official scorer before the warning horn. Substitutions shall not be permitted after the warning horn.
k. A player who legally enters the game during a dead ball may leave the game during that same dead-ball period without penalty.
I believe it was a timing issue. If HC had another time out could have got Doherty in.
That said, officials allowed the Dartmouth coach to call her players over to huddle before the inbounds at the end of regulation while HC players were on the court and an official was waiting for Dartmouth to inbound. No time out was called. So they were selective sticklers for timing rules.

"best I have seen them play over the last two years."
I would agree with that. HC needed to make a few more plays at "winning time". HC shut down Dartmouth's 3-point shooting game and out shot them from 3. Dartmouth adapted well. It was a frustrating loss it was not a bad outing all together.
