Stop, please. It is Christmas. Not one person here has defended that decision. TG is gone whether that was the straw that broke the camel's back or not.
When it came to another former coach, you used to call any criticism that must have come from "haters." So, don't be a TG "hater."
Let's not re-litigate former coaches, any of them. They were and are all good people that for a variety of reasons did not have success at Holy Cross. The factors for all of them to one degree or another was partly a lack of institutional support and mostly of their own making. They've moved on with their lives and we should respect that.

You can separate the man on the field from the man off the field. Sometimes decisions get made that don't work out, but that doesn't make them any less of a person off the field.
It's fairly well known I interned at HC while completing my master's degree and I met FCTG a few times in work-related scenarios. When I went to the PL after that, the first time I saw him was almost a full year later at football media day. He came right up to me, smiled, extended his hand and asked, "How are you James? Good to see you." That always stuck out to me in a good way.
I wish him nothing but the best.

TG, during a busy time of the recruiting year, found the time to come to my grandfather's wake -- that is something I will never forget. He is a true gentleman and a class act.
He may have had his shortcomings as a coach, but he is a man of strong characters and values, which was never in question. A fine Crusader!

A good man perhaps....but a terrible head football coach at Holy Cross for a myriad of reasons...sorry, but it it is what it is.

Gilmore will be fine. He’ll land somewhere that values a hard nosed head coach and provides administrative support from day 1, not years after the dumpster has caught on fire. He’ll do very well. Again.

Me:
87: Me: You can't help yourself, can you? Not even for Christmas season. Some here might agree with your latter comment but it appears that you are the only poster who believes he is less than a good man, who you feel was not personable in his dealings with you. As for me, if I could still drink, I would be happy to have a beer with him any time. Tom Gilmore is a classy, well-educated, intelligent, unassuming and personable guy who has the right values and always, to this day, appreciates what the Holy Cross mission is and stands for.
As for me, I am less classy and will regretfully be adding 87 to my very short "ignore" list of posters because despite often many valued posts can't get over trying to kick someone who is down.

Again. Not sure he'll be picked up as an FCS head coach but agree he'll land somewhere. DC at lower Ivy or Patriot might be his ceiling right now. Although an upstanding and honest gentleman, his personality might not have been the best for dealing with assistant coaches and players nowadays.

True. Maybe at a service academy. I can see this as being a good fit for that style.

Could you guys please stop quoting hc87 and/or ncaam, the poster formerly known as HC70? You are screwing up the wonderful benefits of the ignore feature.
