Scott James, at UNH last 5 years, will be new DC. Would link to Twitter if I had been born 10 years later.

Congratulations to the new hires! With Coach Chesney getting a 5 year contract it certainly looks like we will have stability on the football staff! It always bothered me that the over the last number of years that was something that we did not have!

Very excited about the future of HC football. Hoping we can have a strong second half of the recruiting class. Having two guys from the CAA as coordinators should help with recruiting this first group.

Very well done with supporting staff, and in short order.
Making up for lost time.

Two very good hires in Coen and James. One of Gilmore’s problems was getting and keeping quality assistants, and he ended up with journeymen. But it’s time to look forward, not behind!!

Perhaps Chesney has been pondering this situation for a while.

I hope the salaries are now at a level where we can keep assistants for at least a few years. Anyone know if here are bonuses in the contracts for performance goals?

These appear to be very good hires and better than in the past. For me, this is yet another sign that the administration is "all in" because I am pretty sure they had to loosen the purse strings to get these guys.
It is possible that the new head coach is making a lot less than his predecessor did and the administration decided rather than "bank" the difference they would "invest" in higher caliber assistants. If so, good for them and great decision.

Also likely the new assts want to hitch themselves to a rising star in the profession. Smart move.

I have no information, but it seems to me that there is more money available to pay assistants than in the past. I suspect (again, with no information) that this would be one thing that would have been discussed during negotiations before Chesney accepted the position. (He could rightly have had concern that to succeed he needed to have the ability to hire high-level assistants.)

Chesney has hired former Assumtpion assistant Drew Canan according to his twitter post. He had the following responsibilities: Pass Game Coordinator/Special Teams Coordinator/Wide Receivers Coach. He was in charge of recruiting the following areas of New York City, Staten Island, Long Island, Syracuse and South Florida

Seemed like AC had a very strong special teams unit so getting DC as the STC seems like a positive.

The Twitter pages for Coach Barese and Coach Canan simply say "Assistant Football Coach" at Holy Cross.
Coach Barese was Assistant Head Coach and Secondary Coach at Assumption.
It will be interesting to see what specific responsibilities will be assigned to each at Holy Cross. I think it would be informed speculation to think that Coach Canan would be Wide Receiver coach, and possibly Special Teams Coordinator. I'm more uncertain as to Coach Barese.
