Carmody said that we knew who the shooters were, but could not defend them . About tbe little comeback at end , said easy to score ( less pressure ) when basically out of it . Said he is down at the moment, but not down for the count . It’s about time for him to go. What a joke. Couldn’t defend COLGATE’S shooters. COLGATE. He may have said that we did a poor effort getting on them .

Single digit wins this year. Will take a miracle to hit the 10 I predicted. Foot speed of our frosh is no longer suspect; it's non-existent. Could we try to get inside the NBA three point line on our threes? KY, where's the red light?

I find it hard to believe Carmody forgot how to coach. There is not enough talent on this team. Period.

Just back from game rebounding and defense terrible. 2nd chance points 18-7 that was basically the difference. Out rebounded by 10 by a poor rebounding team. All it takes is a ball fake and our defenders go flying past the shooters.. Most 3's are uncontested and on the few occasions we got Colgate late in clock they ended up with uncontested layups. CG is struggling right now and Charles was out of game for last 3-4 minutes, if still hurting I'm real happy he played in two meaningless OOC games rather resting for 3 weeks to get ready for league play. Colgate looks to be pretty good and should be one of the better teams in the league.

Recruiting another story. This is just a bad basketball team and yes Coach is responsible. Just fits into the pattern of another bad team at HC.

I like our group of freshmen and Jehyve's made huge strides this year. But the defensive scheme is doing them a disservice and every opponent looks like Duke on the boards. Keeping the other team from scoring and competing on the boards was a big problem last year with a veteran team, too, so hard to blame frosh inexperience for what we're seeing.

Butler was Mr Hustle tonight. Even ignoring the desperation 3's to make it closer, I thought he played well
Without about 8 minutes left, HC had a 4 point. Five minutes later they were down by 10. This team has a tendency for the five minute funk. Even in the wins like Sacred Heart, they almost blew it with a five minute funk

“Nathan Pine is in his fourth year as the director of athletics at the College of the Holy Cross. Since being named the school's eighth director of athletics on Dec. 17, 2013, Pine has quickly revitalized the athletics program and transformed the athletics culture on Mount St. James to put Holy Cross back into the national consciousness, while continuing to honor the academic mission of the College.”

I'll keep repeating - I can understand questioning the coaching (I don't get the defensive strategy), but to start to write off the freshmen already is nuts to me.

Not sure at this point which is worse, the ineptitude of the teams or the pricks that seemingly are savoring every moment of this.

Believe me, I'm not savoring this...I just have total indifference with this team/program right now. Watched/scouted a high school doubleheader tonight at Oliver Ames...time bettah spent imo than watching us lose to Colgate at home.

Observations/comments on tonight's game:
I liked the starting line-up with AB in there.
The crowd was much, much bigger than expected as it was 8 degrees when I got out of my car in front of the Hart. I said north of 1,000 as the game started and official attendance was 1,484 which looked pretty accurate as it looked half full.
I remain dumbfounded at the lack of rebounding and I would have to watch the replay but I swore there was one play when there were 3 Colgate players going for an offensive rebound and we had one player trying to get the defensive board (no, we didn't get the rebound). I am astounded that CWC looks surprised/upset every time the other team gets an offensive board. Sorry, coach, that's "on you, you, you . . . . ON YOU!"
I am starting to count how many times a game Butler finds himself on the floor as he takes charges, dives for loose balls and aggressively seems to go for rebounds (the only one who seems to be allowed to do so). As one of the recruits was recently quoted who played with him in high school, AB "gives 100% all the time." I like this kid and he really does have long range shooting ability. He is built like a football player, more linebacker than QB, and we need that.
JF looked unstoppable for a while, then cooled off. He's improved tremendously since last year. Problem seems to be that he doesn't have a large supporting cast.
Hopefully our youthful freshmen will develop as well as JF and more quickly.
Ziggy is also growing on me. He doesn't seem lost on the court anymore and has been showing a lot more hustle. LeSann is back playing the "Invisible Man."

AB and JF should play 38 minutes each. The rest of the minutes go to the guys who can defend and rebound the best. We have some tall guys. We need some of those tall guys to play like big guys. And we need to start sending some guys to the offensive glass. Are we really worried about Colgate beating us on the run out if we don’t get all 5 guys back on defense as soon as a shot goes up?

Austin Butler is no doubt more frustrated than any of us about the rebounding strategy because he clearly wants to grab every rebound at both ends of the court. He was in the #1 spot for me as " most eagerly anticipated recruit" of the past decade+ and his play has solidified that opinion for me. He's not perfect of course but he's talented and a joy to watch.

This is so painful to see. The only school that has pi$$ed away more in terms of a real tradidition in D 1 hoops is NYU. The level we play at now is really only interesting to the hardest of hard-core fans. There were probably more people at the Brockton-Cardinal Spellman game tonight. It is what it is...but let's please not call it interesting/engaging. I think we're "trapped/stuck" in the PL for reasons that are institutional to the school itself....why we continue to take this seriously and pay a coach near a half million dollars a year to do so is increasingly laughable.

Time to warm up the Mark Daigneault thread ? He would be insane to take this job after the disastrous way the program has been managed throughout the Kearney, Brown, and Carmody years. And to think, we could have had Kevin Willard, who is currently coaching a Top-20 team, three years ago. What an absolute joke.
