So, I guess they won't be very good this year.

That's the right word. They only have two seniors on the whole team, and almost 2/3 of the minutes come from underclassmen (three of the top four in minutes are freshmen). Minutes by Class: Freshmen, 38% Sophomores, 24% Juniors, 13% Seniors, 25% I'm concerned that Lafayette will be getting lots of good looks around the arc and "progressing towards the mean" in making those shots. They are also very good at getting the ball inside if/when we over-extend. Pomeroy has an experience ranking for each team, where he basically multiplies the years of experience each player has by the minutes played by each player. LC ranks 311th with an average of 1.25 years of experience. HC ranks 330th with 1.02 years of experience. Btw, the least experienced PL team is actually American, which ranks 339th with an average of 0.94 years of experience. The two least experienced teams in the nation? Duke and Kentucky. Now that's funny! !

I am always amazed at how some of these posters come up with all these "facts" and "factoids." I am retired and don't have the time to try to track this stuff down. You guys must be successfully unemployed or independently wealthy. In either case, good for you!

I highly recommend the Ken Pomeroy website--I think it's $20 per year--for data/info on every team in the country going back to 2001-02. Sports-Reference is free and has less detail (facts only, no complicated calculations like KenPom's "o-rating") but goes back decades Then there are the HC archives--very well done and free

Are the players staying in a hotel in Worcester or are the dorms open? Are we busing back or staying in Bethlehem?

Ask adnp. Must be a good reason for it

Are the players staying in a hotel in Worcester or are the dorms open? Are we busing back or staying in Bethlehem? Past practice is that the team stayed in a hotel during the Christmas break and that all dorms were closed (as well as on-campus food options) I assume that is still the case although I haven't heard anything one way or the other in several years

Why would we not stay in PA? I would guess it's a lot cheaper to come back

hotel in PA or one in Worcester ? - coming back and then busing again thursday afternoon is crazy, imo. if this is a $ issue, all the more reason to play a high P5 school every year and allocate those funds to avoid such silly logistics to PA games

Normally I would think hotel rooms would be cheaper in eastern PA than Worcester but my guess is if the team is staying in a hotel in Worcester for the semester/holiday break, they are probably paying for a set period and if they don't return, they would be paying for two rooms - the one in PA and the one in Worcester. As long as the bus driver gets his proper rest, and Silver Fox makes sure of that, it probably makes sense ("cents") to come back to Worcester. Just hope it's a win which makes the trip back seem a lot shorter than a loss.

Coaches, athletic staff, etc don't stay in hotels in Worcester. I don't travel that much, so I don't know if the guys would prefer to have pack up for an overnight twice in a week, or for a four night week away. This might be as simple as the team prefers to do it this way

Actually, no. I wasn't kidding I'm spitballing possibilities of why the team is coming back. I haven't walked in their sneakers, so I can only guess at their motivations. Just because we might think it's easier to stay down, doesn't mean everyone has to think the same way

Why do some posters always conclude that HC decision makers made the wrong decision? I think I know what the answer will be....

I think a lot of the decisions regarding travel come down to budget..It probably is cheaper to come back to Worcester, and since it is semester break, no need for an early rise in the AM...Save some money on this trip and have it for another...No private planes for the 'Saders!

They will also be safely back well ahead of a storm that is coming Thursday but I would think the economics trumps all else.

Seems to me that the last time they did an extended stay in PA, the players were "confined" to their hotel and could not even go to a team meal offered by one of the players parents. At least back in Worcester I would assume that they are not confined to there on/off campus digs!
