The women are 6-5-2. They have 1 win (over Harvard), 1 tie (with St Anselm, and 3 losses (to SHU, Dartmouth and Harvard) in their last 5 games.

They have two against Post (1-10-2). Need to start the new year with two big wins!

we could skate backwards for 60 minutes and win these games. Post is a small school in Waterbury, Ct. with a large on-line enrollment. They were 0-23 last year and these games will be no more than a workout. Thankfully this transition year will be over soon.

All things considered, the women are getting the job done. Post is a lousy team and we were able to play to our potential and blow them out both days. While AIC is not as bad as they used to be, the men should have beaten them (on paper and on the ice) both nights. Certainly a 3 point weekend if not 4.

St Anselm came into Worcester with a record of 9-1-1. HC was 8-5-2. The Crusaders took the game 1-0 relying on some strong goaltending (and 15 saves) by Freshman Julia Pelletier. HC and St Anselm tied 0-0 back on December 5th. That means HC held his team scoreless for 6 periods...impressive.

I guess the coach is getting a good look at all of his players as this schedule is just crazy - another team that obviously can't compete with us is St. Michael's whom we beat 10-0 today, outshooting them 50-11. nothing more than a workout. Let's hope next season in HE will not see some of these scores reversed.
There must be some posters who follow schollie-level h.s./prep school hockey and know who we are bringing in for our first recruiting class. we'll need some serious talent quickly with such a big jump

Sacred Heart must have a good team this year as they took the weekend series in Ct. 1-0-1 (we managed a 1-1 tie yday after losing 3-1 Friday night). We split the earlier series with them in Worcester. Unlike HC, SHU is stuck in this limbo league with no prospects for anything better.

HC takes Post by a 9-0 score and sweeps the weekend.
The Lady Crusaders now have 13-6-3 record in this "transitional" year. They next take on Franklin Pierce at home on Friday. With only 4 regular season games remaining, they are guaranteed a winning season.

Yes, this should be considered a successful season as we transition to D.1, but let's not take any particular satisfaction in the record. 10 of our 13 wins have come against schools who have none of the resources we have and play at a very low level. the cumulative score in those 10 games vs. fr pierce, st. michael's and post is '76-6' - those matches were just workouts. the most important results were the win over Harvard, the tie vs. RIT, and a close loss to Dartmouth.
This year's record doesn't mean much and next year's (a tough one in HE) will also be somewhat insignificant.

I understand your point, haze. But, IMHO, it means a bit more than the strictly D3 schedules HC had to play for too long. Yes next season in the HE will be much more challenging. A .500 record next year would be great, even if unlikely. However, I am not willing to write off ay chances for our players and coaches this early. We'll see (possibly though cmo's purple lenses?).

Next year will be a gauntlet. Have to say that this year was absolutely a success thus far. They definitely played closer to the top teams than I thought we would. Even the 9-1 loss to UNH we were "only" outshot 39-22. Harvard beat us 8-3 while out shooting us 57-12 -- and then we turned around and shut them out the next night!

HC (16 - 8 - 3) now tied 3-3 with Franklin-Pierce going into the second OT of the league consolation game.

HC loses 4-3 in second OT to end up 16 - 9 - 3. That was a tough loss to a team they played 4 times in regular season, outscoring Franklin Pierce by 20-3. HC did not look good, but not scoring with a 3-5 power play was a killer.

No clue how Franklin Pierce was able to stay with them...FP looked awful earlier this year against Holy Cross as they couldn't skate with them!

A good game by a goalie can make all the difference and FP got one against HC. She made some amazing saves.

with Hockey East as a selling point how is recruiting going?

I hope you get a good answer to that question, nht. HC will need to up its recruiting game to be competitive in Hockey East play. Still, even with the very poor finish, they had a positive season overall this year. Time to start building some new rivalries at this higher level.

They now have scholarships which completely changes the pool. Unfortunately women's hockey is an early committ cycle so it may take a few years to get top end talent.

Got to think you are going to see more Canadians based on the background of the assistant coach as she was at BU when Poulin and Wakefield were there.
