It is maddening to watch HC perimeter defenders fly by an opponent who makes an up fake, game after game, thereby creating a 4 on 5 situation which they invariably exploit.

Understand the frustration, but sorry, this is BS as far as I'm concerned. Why? They continue to loose. Improvement is very little. In the end, it is all about records and championships not loosing to teams by less and less every time. I am sure you are frustrated to, but do you think Charles is playing as hard as Austin Butler? if he was, he would be a top player in the Patriot League. He is a junior and for the most part of the season, he is a no show. Oh, so you know first hand what his physical condition has been all season? If even if he is healthy, the matter that they are losing (not loosing) means he (and the others) are going through the motions? AB clearly plays with his heart on his sleeve - doesn't mean the others are not trying. And don't lecture me about championships.

Stop making excuses for a team that is 3-11. You are what your record says you are. Don't lecture you on championships, we have been losing since 1947 in NCAA and 1954 NIT. Don't lecture me about championships.

We better beat Loyola and big for me to believe we've turned the corner. Loyola beat BU tonight, and the corner is not in sight.

Losing hurts. Being totally irrelevant hurts. Not having a whole lot of hope for the future hurts.

We are on the Island of Misfit Toys If you could do one thing to this basketball program, what would you do? In all honesty, I don't think we can do anything.....improve around the margins, maybe. It starts and ends with HC being in the PL.

It is so frustrating that people on this board feel the need to defend the PL that continues to get zero attention and win nothing.

Hopefully someday when I am still alive, the Crusaders will dump the PL. Dump schools that don't care about sports. Dump being a team that gets no attention and no recognition on the National Stage.

Just butting in here, but I would bet that HC basketball isn't even among the top 200 topics of interest at the Worcester State campus. At this point, probably not much better in Worcester as a whole. A consistently good HC hoops team playing quality opponents would still draw well in Central Mass.

We are now 1-14 in games when opponents score 80+ points since Carmody took over. Offense is not enough. Milan Brown-era 2.0 but way more boring.

I like it, for the most part. But Pat Benzan is not that great. He needs to come off the bench, all he does is yell and miss shots. He is the only guy who communicates on the floor. Given the way the staff is coaching, having someone on the floor who will at least communicate is a huge plus. Can’t play a PG who is not going to actually “run the show.” Benzan is the only guy ready to do that right now. Benzan would've been a great 6th man during the Willard era. Reminds me in some ways of Pat Doherty -- not quite the passer or perimeter shooter as Pat Doh but finds a way to get it done close to the hole when push comes to shove.

Just spit up my late dinner in laughter. Not even among the top 200 topics of interest among Holy Cross students walking up to the student gymnasium on the second floor of the Hart Center. Carmody's moment in the sun came and went so fast that the student body didn't even have time to pretend to notice that we're supposed to be a basketball school.

You don't think it's possible to have a fun (winning) program if someone from Winslow Arizona doesn't care?

I'm only disappointed in a couple of things at this point: 1) I was hoping for some real gradual, collective improvement as the season went on, and that hasn't happened yet, and 2) we haven't yet gone to a more conservative defensive approach. Still, before the season I said (not sure if on the board) that I could live with a 20 loss season if the team was showing signs of ramping up. There's still time (plenty, actually) for that to happen, but I am now in the camp of believing point #2 above needs to happen for that to occur.
I am still optimistic about our frosh. If say 4 of them develop as JF has they should be fine. It does seem this year's PL class of newcomers is pretty strong. For those who consider them "an excuse" - if you can find an example of a low major team that had a winning record utilizing 5 frosh over 10 minutes a game, I won't mention the word "freshman" on the board the rest of the year.

Take it easy, take it easy. I'd take being a respected team in the East right now. Hell, we aren't even a respected team in Worcester these days. The Willard Era seems so long ago.
