Should we have an opening that let's us recruit for 2018, whom might we consider? Jared Whit is still available and on our list for offers for 2018. No one else is listed. I still see on VC no interest for 2019.

There are a few players in the metro DC, Texas and Ohio that could help- need a strong 4 that can play immediately and eventually replace JF-imho

Verbal Commits only has one player listed for Holy Cross in 2018 or 2019, 2018 Whitt kid from Worcester Academy. Anyone know if he's any good?

Judging by the observation that he hasn't gotten another scholarship offer since 2015 and isn't a top 60 New England Player on NERR for 2018, I'd say probably not.

Staff needs to get hopping. My guess is a couple three openings.

CBC pre game about 4 games ago. Plus observation of substitution patterns.

Staff needs to get hopping. My guess is a couple three openings. 2-3 departures out of 13 scholarship players seems awfully pessimistic.

Injuries seem to be a key factor. In past years HC has had players who, though talented, were never quite able to get past recurring injuries. Might this be a factor next year?

Staff needs to get hopping. My guess is a couple three openings. Any reason to think the staff does not (1) know the status of their players, or (2) prepare for what might happen in the future? If you feel they need you to remind them to "get hopping" then we are in serious trouble and you need to get in touch with them directly. If this is just speculation phrased in a way to make you look more knowledgeable than the coaches, I can understand that - though I would not agree with such motivation.

Of course the coaches know. That’s why I know I’m right on target. I make these predictions for my own enjoyment and the enjoyment of some on the board. If we have a zero or one scholarship available people can make fun of me and say oh look there goes ncaam again he had it all wrong. Or we could have two or three and I can say I crushed it. That’s what a board is all about. If only posts that impacted the coaches or influenced tptb were allowed, there would be few posts.

I guess I would be a lot more interested if a) I heard the pre game interview 4 games ago - I didn't b) I knew what your observations of substitution patterns are, and how they relate to scholly openings. We know who is injured, we know who plays more now, and who plays less now. The team still looks engaged to me, whether they play or not. So I can't draw conclusions right now about next year's roster

I get it. He’s saying some schollie players who don’t foresee getting much playing time might quit or transfer from the team, right? Why all the veiled references? It’s not mean to say this. Not sure I agree but it happens all the time in D1.
Whatever does happen, our next schollie needs to be a center. Period.

Holy Cross has lost some stars (Kevin Stacom, Walter Brown, and Bobby Kelly come right to mind) to transfer, but are there many examples of HC players who got little playing time and therefore transferred out?

In the last 20 years, kids who transferred and actually played somewhere else - Josh Kramer, Joe O'Shea, Mitch Hahn.

In the last 20 years, kids who transferred and actually played somewhere else - Josh Kramer, Joe O'Shea, Mitch Hahn. Not many on the list. I think Mitch Hahn is a different case than Kramer or O'Shea. I don't think he transferred out because he felt he would not get playing time as a sophomore and later. Conventional wisdom was that he was close to Coach Brown and chose to leave HC when Coach Brown got his notice.

I’m not saying it’s just playing time. There are Other factors as well that cause transfers.

I’m not saying it’s just playing time. There are Other factors as well that cause transfers. True. This is such a peculiar situation having all these freshman. I have a few more doubts today as opposed to after those 5GIM about how we’re going about the business of winning, but I continue to watch this program with interest and a naggingly persistent level of optimism.
