Love the Patriots or hate them, knowledgeable football fans will have to admit that they do have the best coach in the NFL’s history. Give the devil his due A most apt description!

The Patriot haters are an amusing bunch. Whether you're a fan or not, if you can't recognize what they've done over the past 20 years you are just a grumpy, miserable person. Recognizing all they have done is easy - including both the good and the bad. Patriot fans seem to have trouble with anything that implies anythig less than perfection. I have not admired Brady as a person (outstanding athlete) since he demanded to be present when his "baby momma" gave birth to their child and took her to court when she refused. I may well be grumpy and miserable but that has no connection to what I said that seems to have started this off...that I respected both the Patriots and Belichick for their Division win (I just don't like them). I would again refer any who are interested to the article I cited above. It is only one of many. I guess all those folks whose articles come up when you search for "Patriots, cheating" must be miserable as well. Never heard this one before. I know that their relationship was pretty bad around the time that the child was born although it looks like they patched it up in the ten years since then.

The Pats and their coach (remember the illegal/unethical taping of opponent practices?) are not important enough for me to bother about either. Be well. You might want to start with the Forbes article (Oct 5, 2017) entitled "When the Going Gets Tough for the Patriots...Cheat!" You are misstating the facts. There is only one alleged instance of taping of a practice, i.e. the 2002 Super Bowl walkthrough and it has never been validated in any way. Spygate had to do with taping an opposing coach's signals from the sideline during an early season game in 2007. The Pats were punished severely and a subsequent investigation revealed that they had done it in that preseason and in 2006. I will point out that the Pats did not make the 2007 Super Bowl and lost in the 2008 so I see nothing there to taint any victories. Look, I think that the Pats did something wrong in Deflategate although I don't think it was proven and I do think that the punishment was outrageous but let's not go overboard on the Patriots cheating. I assume you are a Jets (Sam Alosi, anyone ?) or Giants (Walkie Talkies anyone?) fan. Read a book about Frank Leahy; when he was coaching BC he sent his nephew to spy on the Cross...the guy was somehow hidden in some snowbank watching practice. Poor guy froze his ass off and all Leahy wanted to know was something about how HC lined its backs up on certain plays.

P.S. I remember in the late 60's how most New Englanders were Giants fans, not "Boston Patriots" fans. You could root for both teams until the merger took full effect, which was 1970...and at that point both teams were pretty weak, so it didn't matter much. I saw something where the NYG hired the now-departed Ben McAdoo over the Eagles' coach, who is of course now in the Super Bowl; reminiscent of the late 50s when they had a coach ready to retire and let Vince Lombardi AND Tom Landry slip away.
