The seniors have graduated so it seems like as good a time as any to start summer Friday trivia. . .
It fills everyone with hope when a freshman like Karl Charles comes along and not only contributes right away, but earns a starting spot
Prior to Karl, name the last five players to start at least 10 games in their freshman season

Well I guess that was too easy. Feel free to keep going back with more names or random freshmen conversation I do a quick double check on my facts before I post trivia questions. I have to admit, if I was asked the question, I probably would answered Chris Morgan and Cullen Hamilton. I remember Coach Brown trying to shake things up their freshman year and putting them in the starting lineup and having Beans and Stevens come off the bench. While fact checking I was surprised to see they only started seven games each. It seemed like more. Must be early onset of dementia . On a side note, I don't think most of us learned until after that season that Stevens had been suffering with a shoulder injury all year.

I thought about Morgan and Hamilton, too. But, I recalled them starting just the second half of the PL games as freshmen.
The one guy I was teetering on was Doherty. I thought he started a bunch of games when TT got hurt.

The other name that immediately comes to mind is Nate Lufkin.
Maybe Jared Curry and Mark Jerz?

I was surprised that MM and DD did not start 10 as frosh DD started 0 Kind of goes to show how hard it is to start as a freshman Nate's freshman year there was a healthy Pat Whearty. Not a lot of opportunity to start there Szatko started a lot his freshman year, in part because of a massive injury streak for the team. I don't think classmate Jerz saw the light of day as a freshman. Coach Willard told a story about telling Jerz that he was basically only going to see garbage time minutes. Unphased, Jerz continued to work hard and was such a solid contributor by his senior year, that when Mark was out injured for a few games, Coach Willard was in a panic not knowing what they were going to do without him I'm not sure, but either Serravalle or Whearty as the only healthy scholarship players on the team could have been starters.

Actually, in Nate's freshman year big Pat had the blood clot issue (arm?) that caused him to miss some games out of conference, so Nate may have gotten some starts there. Pat was definitely back in time for the matchup with Doctor (AU) and Collison (KU). As for Jerz, I think he had more minutes as a frosh than his soph-junior years combined. He benefitted from the rash of injuries that occurred on RW's first team. Not sure about starts, though.

Brian Wilson had to have started 10 games as a frosh. So many injuries that year.
Keith Simmons had a string frosh year, not sure if it was Charles' level or not. If not Keith, the frosh impact might need to go all the way back to Feaster...

Burrell scored more than Charles You sure about that? Justin averaged more points per game (12.1 vs 10.6) than Karl. Justin's team that year was one and done in the Patriot League Tournament. Karl's team had six post season games so his point total was higher
