the dartmouth page on laxpower forums said we lost 9-6 - at providence saturday is a tough opener, as is the women's game at fairfield. expectations are modest for both teams this season so let's surprise some folks in the lax world (as our men did last spring)

Nice showing Saturday. I had the game pretty close in the first half 4-4 but i could be off. We were 3-0 for most of the first quarter. We had two legit goals within the first 2 minutes of the game. Kodzis snapped an alley shot in 30 seconds and on the next possession Lynskey made a great shot with the D closing on him. We looked fast and controlled the ball very well on offense in the first half. Was pleasantly impressed with the wins on the clap with our Fogo. We just lost control to many times after we initially won. I thought Tesoro played well. Seemed like the second half the chemistry was off. We were just not moving the ball as well on offense which caused our defense to work overtime in the second half. I did not pay as much attention but Dartmouth was getting a jump on us. Lattimore, did rotate in lots of freshman which was good to see and they played well but were not as patient. I did not see Lilly or Maruna playing. Thought Murphy, Farrell, MacKintire and New played well Was impressed with O'Connell and Keating at Fogo, they both look like they have been working hard. Hopefully this changes things for us this season. Offense Mullaney, Waldron,Kodzis, Leblonde and Lynskey looked very comfortable playing with each other and play a very similar style. In fact it looked like Dartmouth was caught off guard with how fast they were moving the ball. Nice to watch this style of lacrosse. I am pretty hopeful for a good season. Every game will be hard this year, If we can control the ball and get quality shots things will fall into place. Go Crusaders!!

hccape, thanks for the summary of the scrimmage. It seems to be positive with a lot to look forward to in the coming season.

Some nice (and insightful) words about HC...just wish "pushing" read "beating."

Another nod for HC lax - Inside Lacrosse picked the top DI players from each state for this year - Liam Ryan was picked from Missouri !

I am shooting the women’s game at BC next week...won’t be pretty but Kent isn’t playing for BC so that is a positive. She is still in hockey season.

Conditions for both the men and women will be excellent for february games - temps in the mid-high 40's and no rain in providence and fairfield. Friars lost to BU last weekend in Boston 12-11, so we might have an advantage seeing that tape.
5 PL men's teams were in action last weekend. in addition to BU, Bucknell and Lehigh won ooc games, while Navy and Lafayette lost.

Given the disturbing news about the basketball team and the inference that players on other teams are involved, we can only hope that all lacrosse players of both genders are present and accounted for.

Given the disturbing news about the basketball team and the inference that players on other teams are involved, where was that inference ? The original article did not pinpoint a team and no one has stepped up to say that the 3 men's basketball players are the only ones. But, enough of that... If you would prefer I retract, I will gladly.

I guess watching the BU basketball game was the better choice after all. What positives can we see from this game?

I would say our very young team playing its first game against a quality opponent playing its second qualifies as a positive.

My take away was we picked up where we left off against Dartmouth. We looked good initially and then the offense got in a lull and our defense had to work overtime. Preseason the ball was buzzing around, today they looked tight and were missing a main guy to run the offense. Being young has a downside and we showed that today, mostly Freshman and Sophs out there. Penalties killed us and I don't think our coach screaming at the refs was a good thing. Cant loose it like that, act like you have been there before.
What I witnessed was a tight team that looked like they were afraid to make a mistake. I thought the defense played well and Tesoro played well with 10 save on 19 shots. We did get a lot of different goals by 6 different players. Lattimore ran different guys than he started with at Dartmouth not sure why. He is probably trying to find the right combinations. Good news is they still played hard. Fogo is better than it was last year, I don't know the stats on that but looked pretty even in the first half and then the Friars jumped on us. Not sure what adjustments are being made at halftime, but they came out cold. A young group starting with minimal experience you have to do the fundamentals well. We lost a whole offense and Lattimore has to rebuild that and gain some confidence out there. There were some nice things to take home but I think its Lattimores time to run his lines deep and find that rhythm.

I would say our very young team playing its first game against a quality opponent playing its second qualifies as a positive. With our athletic program in shambles under Nate Pine, I admire your ability to seemingly spin everything into a positive.

I switched back to the basketball game in the second half. I thought we were OK. Even on face offs and successful on cleatrs. Had some unforced errors. We had a couple bad man ups that I saw. We moved ball ok and stayed in the offense. I did not see anybody that is going to make his own chances one on one
We need work but it wasn’t awful.
