Let that sink in.

Merrimack has a 3,500 seat arena? Capacity 2,549. I've seen/heard some rumors of them going D1 in all sports. NEC apparently. And they have football still. Can't see how the numbers work.

Merrimack has a 3,500 seat arena? Merrimack's rink seats a bit over 2500. They have a second rink, newer, but apparently limited spectator seating. Original HE had seven schools. Merrimack was the first expansion school, in 1989. Notre Dame was the last to join, 2013. Notre Dame's rink seats about 5,000.

They have the highest ticket prices in Hockey East...Last time I went, I had a ticket for 30 dollars for a PC-Merrimack regular season game. There is some sort of club you can join that gets you a meal before each game for a 1k per person IIRC. The food was actually pretty good as Merrimack put me in that area since my tickets were nowhere to be found (PC screwed them up)

Without football, America East makes the most sense for them with the relationships they have with fellow Hockey East members, which is half the league. I could see them dropping the sport as part of a plan to move up.
With football, NEC would have to be the landing spot as CAA Football would be a bit over their heads.

Merrimack and PC are grandfathered in as far as minimum seating capacity...
Here is a link to a video tour of their Ice hockey "locker room"...It is quite a facility!

...and their stadium would be a NEC-level venue; 2,500 capacity

It is a great facility...When they enlarged the footprint, there wasn't a feasible way to increase the seating capacity much..similar the what HC did with the Luth.. One of the best "behind the scenes" in the country...
