In a mostly well played defensive 1st qtr, HC 15-11. Both teams played a very aggressive defense, extended periods where neither scored. Even off from HC, Swords leads with 4

At the half, HC 29-20. Swords w/ 8, Thomas 7. Manis w/ 2 fouls, only played 11 mins. HC defense has been outstanding, forcing 11 t/os. Need to make fouls shots in the 2nd half, only 10/15 and only 1/12 from 3.

Those threes from the corner were almost all wide open - simply off the mark. If one is to live or die by the three...that can be fatal.

Some sloppy play by HC, couple of unforced t/os by Smith, makes a three HC 60-39 under 5 to go.

The Raider defense focused on Manis...and the rest of the team stepped up. IT-W has the fire of AB and the women responded to her leadership. She will clearly be missed. (How does the #2 scorer in the PL not make first team?). Until some sloppy turnovers (with the lead over 20) the second half was all Holy Cross. Bucknell should be interesting.

How does the #2 scorer in the PL not make first team? Although she is a good player, I don't think the overall picture supports a first team case. To begin, it is very unlikely that 40% of the 1st team members would come from a team that finished 6th/7th in PL play. But looking simply at the stats, she didn't really have top five stats - particularly in PL games, which normally are more important to the coaches when they vote. She was 5th in scoring in PL games - but only 0.9 ppg ahead of #11. More importantly, she hit only .347 on twos and only .309 on threes. Also didn't make top ten in rebounds, assists, steals, or blocks. Manis was better in every stat (except 3-point pct) and was an obvious 1st team choice. ITW, especially due to the poor shooting pcts, didn't have the same case.

Thanks. I see the importance of PL stats. However, I don't see how having some players who were behind you (even if close) should necessarily allow them to move ahead, IMHO. Also, second team is fine, especially if it makes her hungry in the playoffs.
