Let's go Yanks! (Someone needs to root for the "evil empire.") Hopefully we get all the games in (even if the 2 NY games are a bit damp).

He was a very good ballplayer. A quick Rusty Staub story. I have some friends with whom I've traded baseball trivia questions over the years. One of them ran into Rusty at some event a dozen or so years ago and asked him one of our favorites: "Can you name the only player who had 500+ hits for 4 MLB teams?". Without hesitation Rusty answered: "Me". My friend replied :"Good job. You're right" and Rusty countered :"Of course I'm right. It was my XXXXing career". Rusty graduated from Jesuit High in New Orleans which also produced our Gill "The Thrill" Fenerty and Gill's schoolmate Will "The Thrill" Clark. After one year in the minors Rusty made the Colt 45's as a 19 year old. As I recall Rusty endeared himself to Expos fans by learning how to speak French in his years there. May he rest in peace.

He also led the fund raising efforts for the widows and children of deceased police and firefighters, and had a barbecue for them before a Met game every season since. He will be missed, especially in NYC.

I thought I would point out that the Sox are now 14-2 with the best record in baseball. I thought I would have to stay up late last night as they are on the West Coast, but when it was 8-1 after 3 and the great Ohtani had been sent to the showers early, I was able to get a decent night's sleep.
Between another Sox play off run and Year 1 of the Chesney era, it's going to be a great fall.

Seems like there’s not as much interest in talking baseball here as there was a few weeks ago.

It’s been fun but obviously a very long way to go. The only thing we know for sure is that there’s going to be at least one really good team in the AL Wild Card game.

I think Michael Kay pointed out 12% chance of not scoring, men on 2nd and 3rd no outs. Sox did it, shoulda bunted

Watching the Yankees has been great both last year and this year. After the first Sox series, I had trouble believing the Yanks could give them any real competition this year. After last night, NY/Boston games are must see...ALL of them. 😎😁

Seems like there’s not as much interest in talking baseball here as there was a few weeks ago. True but baseball goes on forever. Our Celts on the other hand have surpassed the Knicks and Nets by a wide margin and continue on in the playoffs.

"surpassed the Knicks and Nets"? You set a pretty low bar.

If you combined the Knicks and Nets rosters from this past season, and didn't get a re-do on injuries, you'd have a team that would still struggle to be an 8 seed.
