What are some of the potential scenarios coming from the NCAA?
A couple of other college coaches seem to think this is already completed and limited but I guess speculation remains unwise

It could mean at least walk on status, with a scholarship to eventually be decided. Just guessing. Bennett K got an offer from DePaul last year - he's not a PWO.
Offers to young players by big schools often disappear when the schools realize that the player eventually is below their level

Twin towers....like the Collins and Lopez twins at Stanford.
Could be exciting to see them in purple. Hope both decide to play at HC.

What’s the excuse for every other offer we’ve made with this same language? Do you have a reason why no other school uses this terminology? This same recruit is taking an unofficial visit to Michigan.

It appears that the Twin Ks have now deleted the tweets stating they had "offers" and have replaced them with "opportunity to play." Shocking.

Given how oh-so-smart the members of this coaching staff are supposed to be, it's difficult for me to understand why they are obviously not making it clear to these kids what they can and cannot say.

What are some of the potential scenarios coming from the NCAA? A couple of other college coaches seem to think this is already completed and limited but I guess speculation remains unwise The best case (imho) is that Holy Cross is prohibited from making official scholarship offers to rising seniors and juniors until the NCAA formally wraps up its inquiry, or reaches some milestone in the process that gives the staff the green light. The probable worst case is that we have been penalized by loss of scholarship(s) as a result of the inquiry.
Obviously, we all hope it's the former - but with the beginning of July live period just ten days away, both possibilities are concerning.

This whole "opportunity to play" language is disconcerting no matter what the reason.

I did. I don't believe the individuals you mention. In fact, in general, I wouldn't believe a particular one of them if he told me water was wet.

What are recruited kids from other schools saying? Is this "Receive an opportunity to play" phrasing unique to HC recruits?
Obviously someone is telling the kids to say this. We've seen the identical wording from too many people. I just wonder if that's just the way everybody tweets prior to signing a letter of intent

What are recruited kids from other schools saying? They say they have received an "offer." NEVER use "opportunity to play." Is this "Receive an opportunity to play" phrasing unique to HC recruits? YES. I just wonder if that's just the way everybody tweets prior to signing a letter of intent. NO.Belatedly, let's get back to the suggestion you've made multiple times previously that Blake Verbeek used "opportunity to play." then signed a letter of intent, so the language is no big deal.
First, some salient information on this example that you have omitted (anybody interested can look back at the 2018 thread, starting on page 6 or 7). On April 14th, Verbeek tweeted that he had gotten an "opportunity to play." The next day, his AAU coach tweeted that he had received an "offer." A few hours later, that tweet was deleted, and "offer" replaced with "opportunity to play" (behavior that has been repeated three times since with three different recruits). On or about April 19th, Verbeek committed. On or about May 10th, he signed his LOI.
Here's a perfectly reasonable scenario:
1. On April 14th, the cases against Charles and Stevens hadn't been finally adjudicated, but were expected to be so by the end of the month. 2. We told Verbeek that (a) we couldn't promise him a scholarship until final adjudication, but that (b) we expected to be able to do so shortly, and that, if we couldn't, then (c) he would be a PWO his freshman year and get a scholarship for the next three. 3. With this understanding, Verbeek committed. Cases were adjudicated. We converted the PWO to a scholarship. He signed.

Jacob deGrom had enough of the Mets and deciding to go to college for hoops? Off topic: astounding that the Marlins who traded away nearly their entire team (and lost Jose Fernandez tragically) has a better record than the Mets.
