Shortly after the presentation of the NBA Championship Trophy, the Bill Russell MVP trophy was presented to Kevin Durant. Bill Russell (84 yrs old) was standing there right in front of Kevin Durant when the presentation was made. Instead of acknowledging Russell, Durant took the trophy, turned away, pumped it up in the air and "yucked it up" for the cameras. Several minutes later, a guy dressed in a suit, came over and tapped Durant on the shoulder, said something to Durant and pointed to Russell. Durant then went over and shook hands with Russell.
I could not believe it when I saw Durant totally ignore Russell who was standing right there in front of him! Then he had to be reminded to go over and acknowledge one of the greatest basketball players ever! Great Basketball player but clueless when it comes to how to act!

Could he have gotten caught up in the moment ? Durant has usually shown classy behavior. I give him a pass on this one

Russell's presence made that presentation even more special...but I would give him a pass in the moment as well.

That was Oakland's GM Bob Myers who informed Durant to acknowledge Russell. Thankfully he did so.
