45 years ago today- the most dominant performance in the history of horse racing, and perhaps all of sports.

45 years ago today- the most dominant performance in the history of horse racing, and perhaps all of sports. Very impressive (I not only remember it, I've seen the tape.) I'd put it in the category of Ruth's 1920 season wherein he hit more home runs than any other American League team.

Beyer Speed Figures were not calculated 45 years ago but it is estimated that Secretariat's scintillating performance in the Belmont Stakes would have earned him a 130+. Justify got a 101 I think for his win yesterday. That would make Secretariat's win about 15 lengths faster than Justify's. You can't just use running time due to the variance in the speed of the track from day to day. For further perspective on the 130, I have only seen a very few over 115 ever
