Head coach for 39 years, now 70 www.wm.edu/news/stories/2018/william-marys-jimmye-laycock-announces-2018-is-final-season.php...which for those too young to remember, means he was the Tribe coach when they played the Lockbaums in 1986 and 1987. He also was the BC coach for one day in 1990. Took the job after Frank Beamer turned it down (The Boston Globe said Beamer-to-Boston was a done deal). Then, Laycock slept on it and reconsidered. All 3 parties did ok in the deal- Beamer and Laycock stayed at their respective schools until they retired. BC got Tom Coughlin, one of their better hires.

Successful career, what we hope our coaches achieve. As I recall, they were part of the original Colonial Conference but didn't stay, too bad for us.

In the ultra competitive CAA, he probably felt some pressure given the winless league record last season (0-8) and only 3-5 in 2016. But overall a very successful career. Will be interesting where they go for their next coach - great school, great location and a first class facility

They did a nice 27 million renovation a bit ago. Though, I so dislike football fields surrounded by a track.

...and as a former track coach I hate losing the infield of the track to a football field.

Used to have business meetings every year down the street from W&M and checked out their stadium a couple of times. Pretty unimpressive for the successful program they've been. But perhaps a $27 M renovation has spruced it up.

Definitely didn't look like that when I last saw it. Andy Kerr greatly improved from the old days to now . . . . no Fitton Field but then again . . . .
