The Maryland football program under Durkin is a cesspool. I reject the notion that Maryland's/Durkin's conduct/behavior is a one-off. What evidence do you have of any other program?

To be clear, I'm not suggesting that other programs have waited an hour to call 911 after a medical emergency. If you think that's the only thing wrong here, so be it.
I think the problems in the sport, in the way the athletes are treated, are more systemic. This tragic Maryland case is just an not-unforseeable extension of those systemic problems.

No other coach/program is responsible for the repugnant behavior of Durkin and his psychopath Strength & Conditioning coach.

This has become the biggest [expletive] football-related fiasco of the millennium to date. After the investigations were completed, the Board of Regents decided (Tuesday] the university should retain the football coach and AD, and, in effect, fired the President (his contract would be allowed to expire). The football coach, who had been on administrative leave, quickly returned to the sidelines. The next day [Wednesday], the university fired the football coach. www.washingtonpost.com/sports/2018/10/31/maryland-parts-ways-with-head-football-coach-dj-durkin/?utm_term=.2f83cbdf3a28This reads as if the governor and the state legislature were of a mind to fire the Board of Regents.

Today, the Chair of the Board of Regents announced he was resigning. (The Board had also recommended retaining the two athletic trainers who failed to give proper care.)
A letter sent today from the chair of the UMd BoT to the chair of the Board of Regents. And two football players had a serious altercation, with a player sucker punched by a supporter of the fired coach, which necessitated a trip to the hospital and an MRI.

Baylor wants a word with you...The president of Maryland seems to be the only adult in the room and was at least trying to do the right thing.
