The problem is so widespread that I can understand that reaction...but getting rid of Bishops that have not been a part of this is a bit so it could be a seen by some as a case of "throwing the baby out with the bath water."
Also, the Bishops in Chile "offered to resign" and that is not the same as actually resigning.
I think most of you are referring to sisters. Nuns are those women religious who still are cloistered. The sister who runs St Benedict's Elementary in Newark looks to be in her 30s. I would trust her with my life (and those of my granddaughters any day. (Sadly, there are now stories of sexual abuse by nuns against novices in several covents. Not much shocks me any more.)
