All frats and sororities have been suspended indefinitely at Monmouth (because of multiple violations of school rules - including hazing, drinking alcohol, sexual harassment, and drug abuse). This was where a pledge died when the grave he was digging for himself on the beach collapsed - trapping and killing him.
I wonder if this will influence their recruiting (for good or ill).
I don't think suspending all fraternities indefinitely will influence Monmouth's recruiting, but I personally have very little use for Greek sororities and fraternities in general. It seems fraternities bring nothing but bad publicity (and much worse) to the schools that put up with them.
(I've written before that when I argue with my Colgate friends as to which of our schools is better, the lack of Greek life at HC is acknowledged as a point in HC's favor. They find the whole embarrassing system a bit second rate.)
