Black cleats always made me look slower, and I was slow as cold molasses to begin with.

The current purple uniforms look great—no need for a change

Maybe I'm getting old and cranky, maybe I'm superstitious, but I would've stayed with the purple after the comeback vs. Yale.
If the athletes really like it, go for it. At least you can read the numbers on these. The grays with purple numbers last year gave statisticians fits.

Apparently great for the players . . . . extremely "ho-hum" for us older alums.
If this juices the guys up for the Dartmouth game and gives them more energy/stamina/adrenaline, then great.

IIRC, last year there was discussion on this board not only about the 'numeral readability' of HC's gray uni's, but of other teams as well. And the NCAA itself got involved. I think this dark gray uni replaces last year's gray uni.

I like the many posts about..."if the players - and recruits - want it, I am OK with it." Good priorities! (Thanks for the tip, cmo. )

The discussion between CoSIDA and the NCAA was very much in midstream when HC debuted the grays last year.

Looks good, nice details. Much better than the grays, which were a total flop.

Time to trot out my old story about an email exchange I had with Ralph Willard. Can't recall who we played and lost to wearing black but sent Ralph an email telling him that I was not happy that the team wasn't wearing purple as black is not the Holy Cross' color . . . . and they lost after, IIRC, having won a streak of games wearing purple. Ralph had the same kind of personality (or lack thereof) as Carmody . . . . kind of a wisea$$ as we metro New Yorkers tend to have. He writes back to me that he thought the color of the unis was irrelevant and had more to do with the poor play by our team and invited me to come to the locker room and make my case directly with the players that the loss was somehow related to the color of the uniforms. Sufficiently chastened, I declined, and decided that even though I detest any color other than royal purple with an appropriate offset, I would leave the uniforms to the players and coaches. That said, I am still angry about the loss of our mascot, in case you didn't know.

The current subject aside, I continue to be floored by the 'WOW' production quality of these videos.
So presumedly this one was staged late last night at the stadium with a player sworn to secrecy and our production crew.
Gotta tell ya kids, all this stuff is top-drawer and in addition to the current roster, recruits watch this too !

Yes, I like the visibility of the numbers. Our friends in Chestnut Hill should demand Under Armor do something about that with theirs.
Numbers "roll up" and are too small ..also name lettering is too close together. A complete waste having names on the back if they look like that, BC. Otherwise, they have nice unis.

Agree. What do you think the cost was to outfit x number of gridders in black. Waste of money. Should have put it towards the fund for lights, even a one night rental.

I'm guessing the uni's are a $20,000 expense and those uni's will be around for at least 4 years so ~5k per year cost.
The only area I believe we really need to spend money right now would be around stadium locker rooms.
If this kids the kids going and helps us to market the game I think it's a net win - We'll find out on Saturday.

I'll always remember him talking with my friend and I for 15 minutes or more about the program at a preseason meet the coaches night at a local restaurant. He was very gracious.
