Going head to head with Missouri for a recruit. That looks like a first to me IIRC.

How many of these recruiting battles against HYP are we likely to win in 2019?
Just curious what others think is our recruiting sweet spot today. I know it's an inexact science and I am not saying Chesney & co. are going about this wrong...results so far point to the contrary.
I suppose I'm asking in a roundabout way, is what would be the most optimal way to recruit for HC today?

Against HYP The schedule and the Luth And Chesney I suppose we have to cast a wide net so to speak but I'm not sold that those factors win us very many of those battles...not looking for an argument here, just wondering what group of kids (if such a cohort exists) HC should really recruit hard.

This year we had the schedule, Luth, full schollies, and Chesney firmly in place while recruiting. Not sure we had any success at all v HYP (Why would we?).
It is understandable but stings a bit when the kid from a northeast Jesuit High School passes on HC.
Unsuprisingly, PL teams overall don’t have much success v HYP in recruiting battles (of course there is an exception now and again to prove the rule).
We can still recruit talented teams and beat Harvard and Yale. Many of the kids we recruit are not also recruited HYP.

It will get kids into the building. Prospects see it on social media and want to check it out. In the end players want to win. A winning season will go a long way.

Many of the kids we recruit are not also recruited HYP. I don'r think other PL schools care as much as HC/HC alums about winning HYP recruits. This may be because, at least on this board, so much HC brand self-esteem resuscitation is projected onto how this iteration of the football program fares. For a variety of reasons, athletic and non-athletic, other PL teams are not burdened by this.

I think if you get enough MAC kids who have D1 offers that is a plus. I think you have to win most of the battles against other PL teams for the kids you really want. Might lose some on the 2nd tier kids, but you'd take that as long as you got the kids in your first tier. And also think you have to win recruiting battles against the CAA from time to time (the likes of Nova, Delaware, Richmond)
Personally I don't care about HYP. I care about winning the PL and getting into the 1-AA playoffs consistently. What's consistently? 4-5 times in a 10 year span. Either winning the league or through an at large birth. I think if you do the above you will compete with HYP often on the field.

Quick positive thought regarding football recruiting. Reading a short piece today about Cole Tracy, the Assumption/LSU placekicker, I was surprised to read he is at home in California awaiting his upcoming free agent tryouts with the Saints and Packers. I was surprised he is from California because Assumption doesn't hold itself out as a national college as ambitiously as Holy Cross does, yet someone recruited him to Assumption. Based on the timelines that was probably Coach Chesney. I believe colleges like both Assumption and Holy Cross should leverage their local presence with regional recruiting, but if a coach can successfully recruit a potential NFL player from California to a D-2 New England school, that is quite a feat.

zero?

...it does restrict what schools/majors you can apply to a university for to get the tuition break. For example, if you were in Mass and you are interested in UNH, I found 3 majors (I'm sure there are more): Sustainability, Russian and Bioengineering. Having been through the college application experience last year, for a Mass. resident, UNH and Vermont are pricy; Conn next; Maine and URI are the most reasonable.
