Takes over for fired Mike Smith as Bucs in midst of three game tailspin. Thank God. As a Bucs fan, his defense has been awful. They have talented players and they are being wasted. Happy its Mark Duffner.

Nowhere to go but up for that defense. Good luck to Duff.

Duffner coached well today. Held the Browns to 305 yards in the game.
I lost 5 years of my life watching this game.
Bucs kicker missed from 40 in regulation and MADE FROM 59 IN OVERTIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Fire the Cannons!!!!!!!!!!!

Good thing they only use cannons...and not a sword.

Wonder where Duff will end up now...also he's 66 maybe he's had enough or wants to cut back a bit.
Just hope all his options are on the table for him to choose.

As a BUCS fan, I will miss him. Happy about the Bruce Arians hire, Koetter needed to go.

They hired Todd Bowles (or, as Mike Francesa prounounces his name, Tard Bulls) as the DC.
Not that Koetter didn't need to go, I wish you luck with Arians, think he's overrated.

I think Bowles played for Arians at Temple so that might explain the hire and fit.

Duffner will be a LB coach in the league somewhere next season or soon thereafter if he wants to coach. They all know each other and they all have phones.

Age 66? Why not retire and enjoy the (hopefully many) years you have left?

Age 66? Why not retire and enjoy the (hopefully many) years you have left? He, like many others I'm sure, finds the competitiveness of coaching more enjoyable than walking 18 holes.

Yes--I understand. I guess those folks are lucky in that they enjoy working more than not working. I love not working (at a job)

Age 66? Why not retire and enjoy the (hopefully many) years you have left? At the rate my retirement account is performing, at age 66 I'll still have to work another 8-10 years.

I think Bowles played for Arians at Temple so that might explain the hire and fit. The fit is Bowles was Arians' DC at Arizona. That too:
"Bowles will replace Mark Duffner, who took over for Mike Smith during the season.
Bowles and Arians have a Temple connection. Bowles played for Arians when he coached the Owls.
Bowles also was the defensive coordinator for the Arizona Cardinals in 2013 and ’14, when Arians was coach there."

In an (mostly) unrelated note about form HC coaches - Kevin Coyle is replacing Childress as head coach of the Atlanta team that Pujols is signed with. While it will have no real bearing on whether Pujols makes the team, you never know if there is a leg up given the HC connection with all other things are equal.

Also - not sealed in TB that Duffner won't be back - or have chance:
