Item confirms Nixon left the second Canisius game "due to injury." No idea how serious it was, but hope he's back between the pipes Friday.

Nixon was solid against Canisius. I hope his injury isn't too serious. Any word on it?
Although we gave up 7 goals to Canisius on Saturday, our offense did well against a good team and perhaps if Nixon was able to play the whole game we would've earned a W.

Had heard from a reliable source that Nixon had suffered a high ankle sprain and would be able to play this weekend. However, he's not listed in tonight's lineup

A save percentage under .800 and a GAA over 5.60. I hope Nixon returns soon. Our D is pretty good but not good enough. Nonetheless we looked flat with the lead today

If it’s actually a high ankle sprain, that’s usually several weeks. Like 4-6, I believe. NHT can give us the actual answer.

Actually, upon further review . . . it was reportedly a low ankle sprain. My bad.

Me too. I have seen athletes lost for weeks (and have recurrence later) with a high ankle sprain. Thanks for the update, WG.

With a league game against Bentley this weekend, it would be terrific if Nixon is healthy enough to play (although goalie skates are molded to the feet and have cowlings to protect against shots, they are a lower boot than player skates to allow the ankle to bend and flex for mobility).
The butterfly puts a fair amount of pressure on the ankles and there have been many inventions to some of the more recent pads to secure the pad to the skate but allow the skate to move more freely--a floating toe bridge--for example. Many pads today such as the Bauer 2s and 1x as well as Brian's Optik's have the option of no toe connection. Needless to say, in order to have a wide butterfly and cover much of the net AND have the mobility to push off and slide across (or stand up), you need strong ankles!
