Score and shots do not indicate we got crushed, which some had predicted. Extremely dirty hit by Holy Cross when the game was 3-0 (after the empty netter) that had both coaches having a long discussion and the PC players trying to leave the ice without shaking hands before Leaman yelled at them to.

Strong effort by HC. Providence is tough (obviously). We played hard, beat them to a lot of pucks and competed throughout. If we bring that kind of effort every night, we’ll win plenty of games in Atlantic Hockey. Must say the crowd was disappointingly quiet. Lots of bodies but very little noise coming out of those bodies.

The penalty at the end of the first period was ill advised. HC had the puck in the PC zone with ten seconds left in the first and committed a slash. PC got a PP goal after the intermission. There was a review of PC”s second goal. I think the issue was interference. The goal was upheld. HC put one in the net with about 5 min to go. It was waved off and the review affirmed it. I couldn’t tell if it was interference or if the goal came off. The head shot at the end was bad.
Our guys hung in there well. PC was more skilled but couldn’t really make that matter. Our goalie did well enough. He does give up some rebounds but PC couldn’t make him pay
It was a fun crowd. I am glad I went.

The HC goal was waved off because the PC goalie had the puck covered with his glove and Holy Cross guy pushed his glove across the line.

I have wondered what would happen in such a situation. Now I know. How bad was the head shot at the end of the game?

Disgusting...the reaction from PC was on top of how bad it was, the kid had just returned from a concussion in this game after missing two, is the Flyers first round pick from the 2018 draft and a kid runs him like that.

Wow. I hate to see such things connected to players from Holy Cross. Think he will get any punishment from the coaches?

Watching it live and without the benefit of replay, there were several of us ibehind the HC bench that did not think it was a penalty - totally understand though once they said contact to the head. Was surprise there were no unsportsmqnship penalty when PC went after our guy. And to presume that PC had no dangerous hits (2 minutes for kneeing which was really cheap and could take out a guy’s knee very easily) is a bit presumptuous.

1 agree with mark divver, don't know Him, change the rules, ban the kid for the season if so flagrant 2 Doubt the other kid is playing two games after a concussion. Or he shouldn't be

I did not see the hit clearly, but if it was to the head, that is uncalled for and needs to be corrected. I did see #27 for PC swing his stick in a chopping attempt to hit the HC player on purpose, that could have been a felony if he connected. #27 continued to go after any purple jersey on the ice, he was out of control.....I hope the PC coach views his actions and takes some disciplinary action. It was not a good way to end a very competitive game by both teams. The rink was filled and it was announced as the largest crowd to attend a hockey game at the Hart Center.

Or he shouldn't be Divver is PC’s beat writer but the thought was he had a concussion but I could be wrong as they labeled it as an upper body injury. The original injury occurred October 19th.

All I know was Hockey East would suspend the player an additional game so we will see if Atlantic Hockey will. You are ruining a kid’s career on a hit like that and plus with him being such a high level player that reaction is going to come.

IF HC gets an invite to join Hockey East, the level of play of each team is about the equal of Providence...HC showed they can compete in that hallowed league..

No...PC and UMass are the elite in the league while there is a major drop off after that. Holy cross could be a mid tier team in hockey east if they played that way every game

I didn't see anything that happened, but FWIW there's a lot that happens on the ice during the course of a hockey game that could land someone in jail if it took place out in the "real world." I mention that only to provide a bit of context, especially in light of the kneeing penalty. Yes, someone using their knee to trip someone up could be dangerous, but two players could collide knee-to-knee in incidental contact just as easily with zero intent behind it. People get hurt - it happens. Not every penalty indicates malcontent.

Agree whole heartedly and the same can be said for the penalty at the end of the game. PC coach should have kept his mouth shut.

Berard was on the PC staff with Nate, Berard’s kid is committed to PC and supposed to be a high level player like O’Brien is. Nate needs to show that he is sticking up for his guys on the squad now and in the future. If PC ran a holy cross guy with 30 seconds left who is expected to be in the NHL in three years, you would want Berard to do the same thing!

The announced attendance was 2502, which is an egregious fabrication. In the construction drawings for Luth, where they have to calculate maximum number of people who can be in various parts of Luth/Hart so they can appropriately size emergency exits, the seating capacity of the rink is given as 800+ (821 IIRC). There were 1600 standing room??? Cowdung!

Mr B Foley 82 - It is a shame that injuries happen. As I said, when I watched it live - it did not seem like a penalty but if there was head contact - then the penalty was deserved. But let’s not convict the HC player as the most evil hickey player this side of Rhode Island.
