Back to the construction drawings which include planned changes to the rink, e.g., the new women's locker rooms.
The numbers below are from the life safety specifications, in which there must be an emergency exit to the outside for all the occupants of the rink, at maximum occupancy. Exits to the corridor to the east of the rink are not counted, as these are not emergency exits.
The three exits provide for a total of 1320 occupants, including hockey team members.
Of which, 859 are seated occupants, -- 841 on existing bench seats plus 9 new wheelchair positions, and 9 new wheelchair companion positions.
NW stairs, exit to outside Required capacity 331 Provided capacity 440
Center stairs exit to outside Required capacity 330 Provided capacity 440
SW stairs, exit to outside Required capacity 331 Provided capacity 440
The enumeration of occupants includes those in the skate sharpening room, the [hockey] video room, the glass room, and locker rooms (66 occupants for the latter)
The big difference between claimed and actual occupancy appears to arise from the number of bench seats. In life safety calculations, the linear length of rows is totaled, and divided by the width of a typical fanny seated on the row. Allowance is made for the width of steps used to access the bench seats. Standing room would total about 330.
