Jealous? We're not rivals. We're in different universes now Glad that our Jesuit brethren are doing well in the ACC.

Jealous? We're not rivals. We're in different universes now Glad that our Jesuit brethren are doing well in the ACC. But 60 years ago, back in the mascot-swiping and ditty-singing days... All kidding aside, we have had so little in common with them the last 35 years it is a wonder anyone from HC still thinks about BC beyond appreciating their current academic/athletic success. Any chance a few befuddled Middlebury College folks might crash this year's Harvard-Yale television coverage to flash the old blue and white (to the bewilderment of the general public)? Given the academic trajectory of their institution, I am pretty confident elderly (and otherwise) University of Chicago grads will not be wistfully contemplating a donning of the maroon and a drive to Columbus for Ohio State's Game Day.

Lighten up, hcpride. A few years back, leading up to the 150th game against Lafayette, Lehigh sent a very large Lehigh banner to volunteer alumni, parents, and friends in the vicinity of every College Gameday broadcast that year hoping they might get the show to be at their game at Yankee Stadium. mylehigh.lehigh.edu/collegegamedayI know I noticed it, but doubt many others outside of Lehigh, Lafayette and the PL did. But so what? The folks doing it had a blast. Go for thecrossisback. Reach out to HC athletics, see if they’ll loan you a flag, grab a couple of friends and head to Chestnut Hill next Saturday.

Lighten up, CHC8485. Now if Lehigh showed up waving their colors at a school that has moved onward and upward from a long-ago rivalry, that would be similar to thecrossisback's jealousy/plan. I’d see your point. Heck, I fondly remember MIT’s prank at Harvard -Yale many years ago. That’s completely different too but I do remember it.

A reminder that when someone else quotes a poster who you've set on the "ignore" feature, it defeats that particular tool.
Dean, if you read this post, is there a way around that?
I am just not interested in reading posts by someone who will never be guilty of the 7th deadly sin when it relates to Holy Cross.

Watching Game Day. They just pointed out that Colgate hasn’t given up a rushing touchdown since September 1st. How hard would it have been to mention Cozier and the Crusaders?

"To act otherwise is to diminish oneself and be perceived as silly, petty and foolish"
thank you soooo much '67 for your superior enlightened reaction to us (the silly, petty, and foolish) who stayed home from Thanksgiving and hitchiked both ways on route 9 on Thanksgiving Saturday to root for HC.
Oh, to be as developed as you and now root for "our Jesuit brethren." Alas, may we all someday be the man you are.

As always , the truth probably lies in the middle. We are no longer “rivals” which implies playing each other every year or almost. However, that said, having attended the football game this season, anyone who doesn’t think an HC-BC game is just another game from the perspective of the fans of both schools has dialed a wrong number.
While we are not in the same league as BC, both literally and figuratively, we can be and have been competitive right now in basketball and have beaten them recently and why Skinner took his team and went home similar why our other Jesuit brethren Fordham won’t play us.

Neither the high school students I talk to nor their parents (who are in their 40’s BTW) have any idea that a long time ago BC was our rival. As a matter of fact, I am not sure the kids actually believe me...or care. That doesn’t mean folks shouldn’t wax nostalgic in the manner Middlebury folks may dream about the times they played Harvard in football.

Those Ring of Fame pictures around Fitton
Don't think those guys are celebrated for great games against Wagner.

Realistically they probably had about 75 yards rushing and 66 yards in losses of various kinds (sacks and a 32 yard loss on a bad snap).
Bottom line is Dillon hurt his ankle after 3-4 games, re-injured it last week; and is in no way, shape or form the same player he was in week 2. Combine that with their qb getting knocked out of the game by local guy Christian Wilkins and no wonder it was a defensive shutout (as mentioned BC scored a td on a punt return).
BC's defense, on the other hand, was quite impressive. Clemson scored only 20 offensively and BC held them in the red zone at least twice.

Hey! Doesn't BC believe in "next man up?" Again, I am rooting for BC because 1. the better they do, the better our one-sided loss looks and 2. they are a fellow Jesuit institution.

Who wasn't considered good enough to play for Holy Cross. Not true that he wasn’t considered good enough by HC. HC only had a half scholarship available. Flutie went where a full scholarship was offered. HC had already had a commitment from Pete Muldoon, who was a priority recruit for both HC and BC. Generally only one scharship QB is recruited per class. With 20/20 hind sight, I wonder what adjustments Rick Carter and his staff would have made.
