Well done, Tim. Thanks for posting the link...nice article about two good guys! Heck, at least it wasn't Holy Cross University. I can't get upset with them using the actual name of our college.

btw, although not mentioned in the article Tom Lamb coached Doug Flutie at Natick H.S. before Flutie went on to BC where he won the Heisman Trophy and later pro career.

The bet could be paid off at the Harvard-Yale game, often a brutally cold day. The two plan on attending together.
Eh ?

Some people enjoy traditional New England college football beyond Holy Cross.

Fun article; thanks for the post A Massachusetts paper and the first sentence can't simply read "at Holy Cross:" UGH and “in Worcester” to boot. Does bring home the stupidity of past HC admin decisions.

Fun article; thanks for the post A Massachusetts paper and the first sentence can't simply read "at Holy Cross:" UGH and “in Worcester” to boot. Does bring home the stupidity of past HC admin decisions. Those are your problems with the first sentence? In 1966, at the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Tom Lamb, from the Berkshires, and Bob Desaulniers, from Southbridge, a stone’s throw from the campus, arrived as freshmen, intending on getting a superb education and play some football on the side. They were strangers in a world of strangers.I have a bigger problem with the lack of parallel structure.

The emphasis seems to be the longevity of the relationship and their local high school football connection.
The biggest thing that happened in their football careers at Holy Cross was probably their contracting hepatitis and having their senior season cancelled and that is not mentioned much less that Bob graduated in 1970 but Tom was able to play another year and captained the team in both ‘69 and ‘70.
So, yes, a lot missing but that wasn’t the focus of the story.

Some people enjoy traditional New England college football beyond Holy Cross. especially when one's so, Joel Lamb, is OC for the Harvard's.

Got an email from Bob on the results. Depending on your point of view, very happy ending or dissatisfied.
