Well, they certainly have a big weekend coming up....
I think the ESPN Game Day show crew will be broadcasting from campus Saturday morning and then the tilt at Alumni that night to a national stage on ABC.
BC is good but Tigers are rolling now....38-17 Clemson is my pick.

'38' is also the expected temp at gametime - maybe the boys from S.C. will play below expectations (but I don't think so)

Clemson is the Appalachian hills well above sea level. Weather there similar to Chestnut Hill this time of year. It's not as if its a school from FL.

I hate BC with the intensity of a 1,000 suns....but it's good for local college football to get the exposure it will this weekend.

Even if they win no one around New England would really care. It was 6th page news when they were ranked #2 a decade or ago. BC fans are the worst!

While I agree it's being ovahshadowed by all the pro stuff...it is getting some attention on the local TV news (Channel 5 in particular, which is broadcasting the game) and even some chattah on the sports radio stations.
Agree though, BC, kind of like HC writ large, has lost a lot of the "local following" it once had in generations past.

BC got a lot of local and national ink when Matt Ryan got them to #2 under Jags.

Scrolled down the headlines in the online Globe sports section. 28 on pro sports, two on Clemson game, one on HS volleyball.
Scrolled down the Greenville SC daily newspaper online sports section. No stories on pro sports. Lots of stories on Clemson, Furman, and USouth Carolina, and high school sports..

But Clemson, located in the relative boonies in a town of 13,000, fills its stadium of 80,000+ After a Clemson game, they make the highways one-way so fans can get out of town. I believe one can successfully advance the argument that professional sports has greatly eroded interest in college sports in the Northeast. Most particularly in Boston, because Boston team have won so many championships recently.

IF BC was in the national championship hunt, Alumni would be full every game.

I'd give anything to have some station that at least spent a few hours a week on college sports. I mean, how many more hours can be spent on the Malcolm Butler saga?
Maybe someone here would be interested in starting Crossports Radio? Or a Crossports podcast?

This game will be on the 'EEI 93.7 flagship in Bos, not relegated to 850AM ESPN as often BC games are.

The departure/cancellation of nutty Ted Sarandis' evening program many moons ago was the death knell for any college sports discussions on the WEEI family of stations. And WBZ never showed any inclination to venture down that road.

Good national exposure on Saturday morning and Saturday night (8 PM - primetime) that can only help our former (and fellow Jesuit) rival. Very complimentary SI article highlights recruiting optimism and pro placement of players. It predicts bigger and brighter days in their football future: www.si.com/college-football/2018/11/08/boston-college-steve-addazio-be-a-dudeEven in the likely event of a Clemson victory, the sky won’t be falling. A nine-win regular season and high-caliber bowl game will still be well within reach. Brown, Dillon and No. 1 wideout Kobay White will be back next season, and there’s plenty of depth with which to reload the defense. Regardless of what happens on Saturday night, there’s no denying that Addazio has Boston College ascending and relevant in the national conversation once again.

Can't help but be very jealous of both BC and BC Athletics right now.
BC: College Gameday on campus & primetime, national game of the week on ABC
HC: 12 teams that compete in D1 sports that track team records, ZERO teams have had a winning record over the last 2+ years (in 29 chances for those 12 teams), for an overall record 245-452-31 (.358).

I think it also just speaks to the cultural differences relative to sports in different parts of the country. Having been to SC a few times, you've got "the other" USC and Clemson and that's it in terms of big-time sports. There's a bit of minor league baseball too that tends to draw pretty well in the spring and summer. Up in the northeast, it's all pro sports. You go to the midwest and volleyball is enormous in some places.

I have a sense there's more excitement about ESPN Gameday than the game itself
There's something to be said about a local team doing well.,
On the other hand there's something to be said about utter humiliation for BC. On a related note, my contempt for BC actually grew when they became the first (I believe) college to leave a major conference and jump to one outside all geographic norms in a money grab

Miami and Virginia Tech beat BC to the ACC from the Big East by a year. They still are one of the major parties at fault, but they were not the first.

Miami and Virginia Tech beat BC to the ACC from the Big East by a year. They still are one of the major parties at fault, but they were not the first. Not revisionist history. Miami and Va Tech moved from a northeast conference to a southeast conference which made more geographical sense. Miami was an Independent who needed a home and the Big East wanted to up their football game, but that made no geographical sense from the get go. BC was the first to jump out of region. A small tangent on why I might be rooting for Clemson Saturday. And although our open discussions frequently have tangents and might put things in the wrong forum, it is not uncommon to discuss a current season's opponent in the HC forum. Seems like a long time ago, but HC did play BC earlier this year. I suppose if BC wins we'll be on a football par with Clemson
